Title: raptureready.com
Post by: achtung on June 04, 2006, 07:09:20 pm
http://www.raptureready.com/

This site is one of those  :wtf:  things.

One good example of this is that according to the group that runs this site, immorality has only existed from the year 1931 to present day.
That page being here (http://raptureready.com/time/rap31f.html)

Hope you get a nice laugh out of the extremist right-wing religous mumbo-jumbo.

I really don't get what the deal is. Or what makes it sooo funny.

And BTW about the prophecy gopher, did anyone even think to click the link? It's a Bible search, you know one that "digs" thru the Bible to find what you are looking for?

'1982 : After years of appeals, the Supreme Court ruled, in Board of Education vs. Pico, that "local school boards may not remove books from school library shelves simply because they dislike the ideas contained in those books and seek by their removal to prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion or other matters of opinion." The case was brought by students opposing a directive made by the Island Trees School District in Levittown, N.Y. ordering the removal of books considered "anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, and just plain filthy" from school libraries.'

From the 'Timeline of Immorality'.

The site itself is just another Christian site, but calling the refusal to destroy books that don't agree with you as 'Immoral' is more than a bit steep.

Oh, c'mon. It complains about the removal of the sodomy laws.

LOL Yeah, I noticed that, but from a far right Christian point of view, it does fall under the definition of 'Immoral', even if I strongly disagree with them, that's a valid viewpoint for a Christian site, but book-burning? That's not a question of Morals, that's a question of the First Amendment and everything it represents.

The right to sexual freedom is also constitutionally protected. If you can say that from a far-right Christian POV anti-sodomy is valid, then you could also say that burning, say, satanic books or whatever is a valid viewpoint. Sodomy is also not a question of morals. The ONLY reason people think they can regulate my sexual activities (btw, I'm actually het) is because of religion. That's also First Amendment.

Like I said, I disagree with the pov strongly, but all I'm saying is, I knew there was going to be Anti-gay comments on there from the moment I saw the front page of the site, I was expecting it :)

Well if all were 'peacenik insert X' then the world would be a better place.

However as long as we have these reactionaries who are as bad as the fundamentalist Muslims...

I say let the fundis have a continent, let them make their own countries and let them nuke each other while the rest of the world advances twice as fast.

They can have Antarctica
