I recently got FS2 and FRED working again, so, in order to get myself back into the swing of FREDding (in preparation for launching myself back into TI with avengeance) I've made a fairly simple single, modless* mission.
The plan is that this will be the first of five or so missions in a minicampaign called '"Pathfinder", but rather than waiting until I have 5 missions done and then releasing it (which would mean tonnes of time away from TI) I plan to release it as 5 single missions, linked using player persistant variables rather than campaign persistent, which I'll be working on whenever I need a break from getting chewed to death by plankton.
However, four of those missions are in the future. Number 1, however, is in the present and needs to be beta tested before release. It's a short, simple furball. takes about 10 minutes to run through. Two or three goes trying to break it and fifteen minutes writing up what you find wrong - it's probably an hours worth of work or so.
So, anyone interested?
*Almost modless. I have a new Squad logo and a nameplate for one ship, which'll be included with the mission.

Go on then mate e-mail me ack here [email protected]

I should be able to find time for testing a single mission :) Does it require any particular version of fs_open or just the latest?
-
Latest will be fine, though I'm sure it'd run on earlier versions.
-
I can test that later on tonight. If you send it to the add mentioned above, I can take it home with me.
-
Great, no need to go digging in the pile of old builds then, which is a Good Thing given how messy that folder is :D Can drop it by *removed to avoid spam* or pm me a link if it's up for download someplace, and I should be able to run through it a couple of times tonight.
-
If it's just one mission, sure.

Sent to all of you.
thanks again. Extra eyes always help.
-
Why not just release it, mark it as unfinished and let people post problems in here?
-
Becausing I hate releasing unfinished stuff. It seems... unprofessional.
-
Hey captain slappy, how longs it take a file to get from western Oz to london?
I think my corporate network may have blocked it. I'll send you a quick test, just to make sure i didn't fubar my e-mail spelling :D
-
Before I go off, would you like the bugs posted here, or sent to you via PM?
-
Erm.. PM. Less embarrassing if there're millions of 'em :)
CD - got the e-mail and replied with the file.

Top man, Cheers

Guys? Have responses back from Shade, but not Colonel Dekker or Nuclear. Truth be told, I'm pretty happy with the mission after Shade put it through its paces, and the version you guys have is kind of out of date at this point. If you'd still like to test please do so, but I think I might release it atm and you can play the fixed version.
-
Oops, my mistake. There seems to be another account under Blackwolf, which I confused with yours. You should have my feedback now. :)
-
No worries. MEssage received and replied to.
-
Bump, because the people (well... me) liked it and want to play the non-buggy version ;)

Right at the moment, my tables are all TI-ified, so loading up the mission would cause it to be scattered through with ulysees, and since I don't use the mod command, changing it over actually involves work which I'm not really motivated to do right at the moment. Ther mission is]/i] largely finished though (I need to add a few player-persistant variables is all), so I will release it in the not too distant.
