Is there a faq on prerequisite formats, poly limits etc for FS2 skyboxes, (does the subspace vortex count as a skybox, it does doesn't it?) I've got some good materials for a skybox, I just need to know how to prepare it and use it in FS2...
Many thanks in advance.

Well, theres no limit to the number of polies you can use, but as long as the box is not showing polies, it's up to you really. I tend to find 8 sides and 8 sections is the minimum, and going too high is pointless, since you won't see any difference.
Textures, probably best bet is DDS, since Skyboxes tend to need rather large textures.
You just really need to make a single-lod sphere into a .pof, apply your sky texture to it and then apply that .pof as the skybox in Fred, it can be any size you wish as the Engine will deal with that iirc :)
