Do any HLPers keep blogs? I figure there must be at least a few of us.
Well, here's my blog. It's not that old:

Comments welcome. I've been meaning to update the visual style a bit but have just gotten lazy and preferred to actually write stuff in the blog instead.

I don't blog. Blogs are ok as far as the blog has meaningful topic and content. Blogging about your life in general is IMO meaningless.

I don't actually know what 'blog' is supposed to mean, myself. It's just easier - and cheaper - than a proper website. I reckon it's not bad so long as you freely acknowledge no-one will ever read it, anyone that does so frequently probably needs help, and it's effectively talking to yourself, then it's fine.

I would say its a conjunction of Blag + Log or Blab + Log.
Or an Acronym for Bloody Load Of Gash.

It's supposedly short for 'weblog'. And don't get me wrong, I don't mind the blogs themselves (not that I could be arsed to read what some random dude thinks about random stuff). But I put blogs in the same ballpark as the web 2.0 craze.

I had a blog for a few months, but people read it. Which wasn't expected or desired, so it got taken down.
I mean, who reads blogs? Seriously? Especially the crap on Myspace. Best example of write-only memory ever.

Some blogs are good, if it's from people who don't do it as their sole vocation and actually have proper jobs and stuff. But the concept of this nebulous 'blogsphere' is utter pish. It's a slightly more exposed diary-combined-with-general-bollocks-store, that's all.

Oh, blogs that contain useful information as the rule rather than the exception are OK. Microsoft's developer blogs can be really useful.
But online diaries to allow everyone to write (lie?) about their boring lives? Load of self-important bull****.
