the point of AC was twofold:
1, fanservice.  making all the cloud/tifa ppl happy without pissing off all the cloud/aries ppl, and to the big fights that would look cool

2. looking rediculously cool.  we all know it achieves that

also, you gotta find a good transration.  i got a nice, 1.4 gig, hi-def copy translated by AonE.  very nicely done

Story was **** only for those who didn't get it.

You probably thought it was an action movie.

I love my FF7, dont get me wrong :D
I was perfectly happy with the subject matter, (although it was inconsequentially sparse)
It harked back to the previous game fair enough but to warrant a film sequel, A story is kinda important
Ive seen people reviewing this referring to Mako as a "fossil fuuel" which made me swear aloud i think FF7 is great and Advent children is a nice idea, The fight scenes and visuals are amazing but substance..... IMO there is none.

Story in 5 points,

Bad brothers want jenova
brothers turn kids into zombies
cloud fights bahamut
main bad bro gets jenova > becomes Sephiroth
Cloud kills them,

INBRED CHOCOBO ALERT>>>

I bought it, thats probably why i feel let down more.

story bits>>
They just felt like gap fillers to me, Call me an
avid FFVII fan, but ithe film just didnt seem to have as
broad a scope or as much depth as FFVII, even FF1 had more story..

it could be better, it could be worse, i do haveta say that the overall choreography of the fight scenes were brilliantly done, i wouldn't expect any less from a company that specialises in characters hauling around overly large lumps of metal.  :p

Cloud kills them,

Yes, if I saw that as the story, I wouldn't like it either.

Unfortunately that's just a recap of what goes on, and not a very good/accurate one. The hidden meanings are all over the movie, only some being in those scenes. The movie is intensly tied to the game, however its message has nothing to do with the game whatsoever. The main idea was really to round Cloud's character and problems up, which the movie completely succeeded at doing.

I saw it a couple of monts ago. Well maybe like 2 months ago or 3 cant remember exactly. However I must say it was superbly done. Also the story had a sort of philosofical issue to it. the strory was good not excelent but good. While the whole graphics stuff and fights etc were absolutely wonderfull.

I was actually a bit disappointed; it seemed short, rather rushed.

Definitely not enough Tifa in a two-piece...

Honestly, I much preferred what she wore in Advent Children to what she wore in the game. Or a two-piece. :p But I'm screwy like that.

cloud fights bahamut

Actually that's the 4th Bahamut version, in naming scheme at least, is "Bahamut SIN" for japanase, "Bahamut Tremor" for english.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Actually it's more probabily to find fanservice in "Final Fantasy VII: Last Order", which is:

Quote
an addition to the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children film and part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. It is an OVA (Original Video Animation) that was released with the "Ultimate Edition" of the movie (Advent Pieces: Limited). It is an anime rendition of two flashbacks that took place in the game. One details events from five years before the game took place, revolving around the Nibelheim scenario that focused on Zack, Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart and Sephiroth. The other involves Zack and Cloud on the run from Shin-Ra. The anime cuts back and forth between these two flashbacks, linked by the Turk commander Tseng's reflection on the Nibelheim events. Last Order also forms the basis of the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PSP game, and serves as a tie-in with the mobile phone game Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, as several of the game's playable Turk characters appear as minor characters, with some even getting spoken lines.

Though there are lot of deviations in Last Order, there is an Unseen Epilogue, here is the full article:

The unseen epilogue and the Last Order are actually both in FFVII - the game, although with those deviations that are numbered on the Wiki page.

Also in the game, is how they escaped Shinra's Water Tanks, and where they were stored for the duration of their capture.

You can see the in-game CS by going to the Shinra's Basement (where Sephiroth lost it) Library on the 3rd disc.

I have seen that long ago, however the "unseen epilogue" just refer to "Advent Children" itself, to people who has seen the movie, but not played the game.
