I ask because i dont see why we cant have a fighter sized SWACS like in Wing Commander Prophecy....

Read about AWACS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWACS) and swap the airborne (first A) to space or spaceborne or someshuch thing (S)

From a POF point of view, there's no fundamental difference between a fighter and a cap ship, so yes.

What made you assume you couldn't? The game treats any rotating subobject more or less like a turret, and we've had bomber mounted turrets since retail. Removing the restrictions on turrets on ships with a "fighter" tag was (IIRC) among the first things the SCP accomplished.

I was around for the original FS2 source code release from interplay/whoever.
But i missed the SCP until recently, so ithought i'd ask to make sure ;7

I do that all the time... just read the thread a little more carefully.
