Title: Beamtest - first attempt with TS

Ok, this is my first attempt at making beams with TS5, done over 15 mins last night.... 1 lens flare, 4 planes textured with an in-game texture (I think this is Kazan's method - credit to whoever came up with it  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) ), high luminosity and slightly transparent.
  Obviously the persepctive is a bit dodgy, so I'll see if i can fix it..... so go ahead and nitpick  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

very nice, but I have only one request.

Post more pics from your campaign! The whole deal with no ambient light makes the missions look REALLY nice.

Almost spot on - but increase the trasparency on the edges, they look solid.

I'll play about with the transparencies a bit more, although TS tends to misbehave a bit with this  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)...the partial one hasn't really came out too well.

maybe its jsut the fact its black and firing a purple beam and has spiny bits but i think it looks shadowish

Yup.. can't say it's accidental... the model was highly influencd by the Shadows.  I stopped from making a Battlecrab ripoff, though, and used some of the ideas from the Diablo.
  Purple beam... dunno if the Shadows fire purple, but I wanted something original and dark, so I asked Raven to make me pruple beams... the rapid fire lasers on the fighters look really evil  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/devil.gif)
