I was wondering if anyone has this same issue....?
When i first boot up my game and start a mission... it runs fine. I have most of the features turned on in the launcher, and the first mission i play runs without a problem.
However, 99% of the time, when i go to the NEXT mission.... the game is completely unplayable.... I have to exit the game, and re-start it to play that next mission, otherwise, it is so choppy and laggy that i do a thing.
It cant be my computer, becuase as soon as i reboot the game, it runs perfectly, in all the SCP splendor.
Anyone have this same issue that can give me some advice? Im getting veeeery sick of restarting my game

How much memory in your computer / graphics card
-
I have 768 mb RAM and a 128 MB Radeon 9800 Pro card. Is the game taking up to much memory?
But if thats the case... why does it work fine for one mission when i restart?
-
To be honest I don't know what to think, I guess you just need to wait until somone who knows what they're doing finds this thread.

Hmm.....
Well what campaign are you playing? Like when I was playing Desperation, There were so many ships in a mission That my comp. slowed down and froze. Try turning off your mediavps. Your graphics well be crappier but, your comp. well go a lot faster.
just a thought ;)

Im just playing the regular FS2 campaign... and as i said, its not a problem with my computer, becuase when i first start the game, it runs Perfectly.... with all of the Media VPs...
Its just when i either Finish a mission and go on to the next one, or restart the mission... then the game goes to hell in a hand basket. Bassically, as soon as i exit game play, if i go back in, the game totally craps out...
The only way to get it running good again is to reboot the game, then it runs good for one more mission.... then i have to do it again.
So it cant really be something with my computer, becuase the first mission i play when i boot up the game runs good... which means that my system has no problem handling the graphics....
????????????????????????????

It's possible your computer/build is not dumping the memory from the previous mission or something? Memory leaks???? Just an idea, no expert
-
Which build are you using? Cause I think something should have been done about this before 3.6.9 RC2.
-
sounds like a memory allocation problem
-
I have 3.6.7
-
Go to the recent builds forum and grab 3.6.9 RC3. See if that solves your problem.
-
K ill try that...
Also... totally off topic here... where can i download the cutscenes? I tried on the links on your FAQ kara, which is where i got them before, but now they are not working for me

When the full 3.6.9 comes out, the download thread will be prominently displayed all over the place so that people don't keep on using 3.6.7 right?
-
We should really have done that long ago with one of the better CVS builds. 3.6.7 had all kinds of strange problems that were fixed soon after.
-
The idea behind branching off 3.6.9 in CVS was so that we could fix minor bugs while not having to tell newbies to download bleeding edge CVS builds.

If you have the original game you can just drag the MVE's off of the CDs (or play them from the CDs for that matter).
Otherwise I'm going to have to hunt down a new site for them.

If nothing else, ShivanSpS's torrent includes the cutscenes in .avi format. Huge download, but it's an option if you can't find them anywhere else. It's linked from the Freespace 2 Download Links thread at the top of this forum.
