Title: Marching band
Post by: Polpolion on June 19, 2006, 09:42:06 pm
As a small portion of you know, I have joind up with the P-CEP marching band! It is really fun, too! I know that some of you are/were in marching band, also. Last weekend I had the 'Liberty fest' parade, which was more like a commercial driving down the street, and it was funny, because the road we marched on was under-construction, so we had to weave in between the orange barrels. Foutunatly, the parade block never broke and we started before the horses. Today, now was the first day of June mini-camp. We practiced from 9 AM till 5 PM every day of the week. It's a lot of work, and it's not very satisfiying ( :/ ), but its fun. Somehow. For the other 'bandos' here, what kind of schedual do you have with parades, practices, ETC?

Masochism comes with the territory when it comes to artistic endeavors. I was in my high school marching band, which sucked without having any redeeming qualities. Now I put on makeup and sing and dance on stage under hot lights in a building without air conditioning in the middle of July, which hurts, but it's rewarding.

The local marching band seems to only really perform on 12th July here.

One time, at band camp...

My sister actually starts her stories about band camp inadvertently with this. It's almost scary.

Yeah, several of my friends in marching band did too, befure I started hitting them for it.

I play clarinet, but we don't have a marching band and since I've only played for a year it'd be useless (my main instrument is violin).

Don't think I've seen those, but I'm guessing that I'm not one of those people.
