as per our custom, death penalty is on the table for all of them.

Actually, under strict UCMJ standards I'm fairly sure that the death penalty ought to be the only thing on the table for them. Death and life in prison without possiblity of parole are pretty much the only penalties the UCMJ allows for murder; the fact the crime was commited during wartime, in a combat zone, should automatically qualify them for the highest possible penalty.
