Looks good. I don't have the time texturíng it. Someone else maybe?

A few things though. In this case you should listen to Bobboau: Make it out of one object....or else. Right now it has 15 objects and the polygon count is pretty step if you want it in FS2.

I assume you got in touch with Thunder?

I think it could do without the four cannons. They could be textured in I suppose. I could always cheat and make it 3 seperate, docking parts.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

About the object thing, I don't get it. How can you make a fighter out of a single object? And isn't it "...subobject or else."?

Errr..as I recall you made "d¡ck" ships..named them bad things and all...
but thats beside the point.

That model is pretty good in my opinion, I wish I knew how to texture   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

I only called them stupid names because:

1) All the good names are already taken
2) I can never be bothered with thinking up names, thus the "Apollo Advanced" copied somewhat from my "Gameboy Advanced", or is it "Gameboy Advance"?

Might not want to discuss it further...this seems to be going downhill. Anyway, have you asked Setekh?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Agreed, let's not bring up old topics - so long as Fattony plays nice he's welcome here again. (If you really play nice I'll un-ban your original profile some time).

In the contex of imagination and creation  there are no already taken names.

I know of 4 different types of Enterprise.
One was an aircraft carrier, rather real.  In its time a super carrier, different in size and shape to Captain Jim Kirk's Starship Enterprise or the Enterprise D class of Jean Luc Picard.

Actually I've been thinking of making an FS2 version of the Enterprise. As an attack fighter and strategic bombers deployment vassel.

I remember Wing Commander, the game had a carrier. I can't remember the name  but it had an open deck, similar in concept to our modern time aircraft carriers.

I like that design - though Pez is right, you got a lot of polys in there, gonna have a hard time fitting it into FS...

It's made out of different subobjects though, so it might go through.  It reminds me of a combo between a Herc II and a Mara.  It Looks cool.

That's what those rear-facing arms remind me of. The HST™ (Huge Stick Thing™) from the Herc 2.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Start with just one box and then extrude different polygons. There is a good tutorial in the 3DS Max help file. It's called something like: "Building a space ship". Look at that and you understand what I mean.

Exactly what I do nowadays, cept I work from scratch on a cube rather than a cylinder, etc.  Basically you're pulling stuff 'off' the model.

The problem with multiple obejcts joined together is kinda complex - I can't easily explain it myself - but it leads to lots of 'missing' planes and collision detection problems.

As for the guns, best to make them as simple extended cubes for polycount, then try and rotate them 90 degrees - the guns on the  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/v.gif) ships like the Herc 1 are done this way.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Nice model, though  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
