Cleaned up the left beam in PSP7, but i haven't been able to figure out how to get a decent damage / explosion effect on the blown off wings.

I like the idea of the wing getting cut off. But you should make it more realistic. ie: Add some flames.

Oh and whatever did happen to all the FS renders, now its olny Setekh(I succeded in TSM-108S (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) ),Thunder,BA,and I dunno about Carl but Im pretty shure...
but now its all Descent,HW,IW2,ect...

Well since you pointed out the damage/explosion, i would say a little transparency on the beams (the purple bit).

those beams are disgusting
take the beam texture
paint in on a plain, copy the plain twice (giving you 3 plains)
put one at 0 degrees rotation, one at 60 degrees rotation and one at 120 degrees rotation
if you want to be vary thorough make it 6 at 0, 30, 90, 60, 120, and 150 degrees of rotation
glue them togeather - move the axis to one end (to facilitate easy scaling)
NOTES[/i]set the texture transparency to: filter, black
set phong settings to everything EXCEPT "Ambient Glow" 0, ambient glow about 50% on the scale box
