Ship=Good
Phaser=Particles, use a light and some fog for christ sake
And don't use AOL. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/mad.gif)
-
i didn't spend long on the phasers its just a test - i thought it made it marginly more intersting with the phasers in thats all - but thats for saying the ship is good - afew bits i'm concerned about but nothing to terrible
-
Get some textures and bump-mapping and it will be muchos excellente.
-
i thought i would do acaul inset lights next
-
Whatcha use to make it? I'm guessin rhino seen as 3dsmax and TS are impossible to spline model with.
-
He used the ultimate program: Lightwave™

I don't like Lightwave. I tried v5.5 and even simple stuff was like trying to perform a special move on Tekken. Click this, rotate that, drag the other. I'll stick to my *censored* version of 3D Studio MAX 3 thankyou very much.
-
let me get this striaght you CANT spline model with MAX??????/ lol ohhhhhhh my god - why not its well i wont say unlivable without but its pretty damned handy - i could never have made that in in under and hour without splines
-
I don't do curvy.
-
try lightwave 7 its far more user friednly than 5.6
-
Okay, I'll go "buy" it right now.
-
if you want any hints with lightwave while i dont know a vast amount i might be able to help
-
I wish I knew where to "buy" Lightwave *coughemaillocationpleasecough* (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Wow, that's untextured. All I have to say is one thing *drool*
-
Wow, hot damn - that is damn good... how long'd it take you? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
about 45mins to an hour

gave it a slightly more interesting texture also the engines can power up now and flash white before going into warp hehehe
(http://members.aol.com/syrinx18/enter2.jpg)
-
Woah, cool!
-
That looks damn sweet! You've gotta animate that - it'd look beautiful... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
I like the model , but not the ship (sorry, but Star Trek... i just can't help myself...)
-
Remember in Sim City 2000 when you made a new terrain it said "Reticulating splines" (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)
-
i'm doinga quick animation of it going into warp - will post hit here once its done
-
you CAN "spline model" in MAX.
Dont be stupid.

Remember, when someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, but it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and ***** slap them upside the head.
-
What is spline modelling?
-
basically you draw 3 curves and the computer fills teh area betwen them witha curves surface that conforms to teh 3 curves - and i knwo i asked venom about it cause i couldn't believe MAX didn't have splines
-
oh, yeah, just for reference, in 3ds3 (8 years old at least), there was already splines, in fact, you were almost obliged to use them (2D shaper and 3D lofter modules) if you wanted to do anything else than building poly per poly or per extrusions.

Count me in! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif) I remember when I bought SC2k and had to wait for months on end to play it, as the laptop we had (386sx 25Mhz, 2Mb/40Mb, greyscale LCD) didn't have enough memory to install it!

ah, simcity2k (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
I wanted to build Megacity one (judge dread). SO I made the surrounding walls with dams, and put the black archologies everywhere (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif).
Oh: am I the only one who saw superman attacking the tripod like alien ship when it was attacking an archology?
-
that wasn't superman, it was maxis man. if you by the urban reneual kit you can look through all the buildings and units, one of them is maxis man.
-
Hehehehehe, I never saw that, although the alien thing was rare for me (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
