Let's face it, an all UK drinking competition would cause a world shortage, we could possibly be beaten by some Eastern European countries, but only by percentage, not for pure liquid volume ;)

I saw a comparison chart...the biggest drinkers in the world were something along the lines of England, Ukraine or Poland, Ireland, and then Canada (!).  US was down there on the chart somewhere near the bottom :)

Don't blame the Americans for it either...their beer sucks. :)

our beer does suck! i usually go with something irish, german. or mexican. i live within a half mile from the alaskan brewing brewery. oddly the locally produced alaskan beer costs more than imports. such ashame because alaskan beer is really good for american beer. one day i should pose as a tourist so i may go on the free tour of the brewery :D

I would imagine all of Eastern and Southeastern Europe would be up to par, to say the least. Ah, the old country, where the proper way to start your day is with a half-liter of homemade rakia.

Scottish people are more whiskey people.

It's lagers for the English.

The Irish drink Guinness and stouts.

The Welsh..... I dunno. Sheep semen?

And Oliver Reed is just in a class of his own:

Quote
He died of a heart attack in a bar after downing three bottles of Captain Morgan's Jamaica rum, eight bottles of German beer, numerous doubles of Famous Grouse whiskey, and beating five much younger Royal Navy sailors at arm-wrestling. His bar bill for that final lunch time totaled 270 Maltese lira, almost £450.

Oh and vyper, I demand you watch Still Game. They aired 4 series on BBC Scotland already, but I think they just moved it to national too. Best comedy program since Rab C Nesbitt.

I miss Rab.

Scottish comedy > Southern wanker ****e.

Little Britain and Ad-Fab can kiss my ****ing ass. Gimme theiving, alcoholic pensioners any day.

Many of the crops needed for brewing don't grow too well in the Alaskan tundra. :p

I think that would be refering to Bourbon when compared to a real whisky? as that is distilled, beer is fermented or brewed not distilled.

Edit: Read the second to last line on my siggy!  :D

Beer isn't brewed?  I thought it was, as for a typical Colonol Dekker "social week"  I finish work at 17:30, as long as i get a green light from the wife first, I hit the pub til 8 (getting a meal before hand, then i RV with my old Regiment mates, and hit a club round essex/west end-depending on teh night and then i roll in about 0300-0400 and get up for work at 07:50.

consuming typically about 9 - 12 pints and maybe three shorts at a stretch.

Weekends i play properly.

If only I was paid that much, :(
Anyway, if you read my post properly I said it was brewed, not distilled  Or were you being sarcastic?

Ummm, yes :D   I'm not paid that much really, (not saying) I just focus my assets on building my  Tolerence alcholometer up. Although i think round about 21'ish it must have hit 999999999.99 cos i was out all night a few eeks after my 21'st and i was nowhere near p1$$ed even after i spent all niht/morning in a club in ibiza then i went to an after party from 8.00 am till about 7 at night, Lo and behold i think that reset it (ie the meter went past 999etc round back to 00000) because i was a lightweight for about a month after that............

Umm where do the romanians rate in that chart?

Romaian past beverage ranges depending on where in Romania you are. Also they have something similar to Vodka yet more alcoohol in it. And there's the home made "palinca" which is well stronger then vodka by a lot. And theres the wine and beer. Although beer is not that good comapred o other countries beer!
