Can Freespace 2 be run in a widescreen resolution?
-
I don't think they support widescreen resolutions ATM.
-
It was done once on a widescreen TV but it turned out horrible.
-
I got those screenshots still i think :p It turned out really nice for the person playing on the widescreen hi-def, but terrible for taking pictures of a television displaying fs2. As far as fs2 supporting widescreen resolutions, it'll do that, but the fov might be screwed up.

I think ja while back there was someone who said he wanted or that he played FS on a plasma screen or an LCD cant remember exactly with a diagonal of 2 metter diagonal or something like that!
:nervous: can you imagine how an Orion looks on something like that?
-
twice as long? :D

twice as borked without custom fov? :D :p ;)

Well iplayed on a non plasma or lcd hi-def screen. And as long as you have the game in a 16:9 resolution it's really great. The camera doesn't quite show off how nice it actually is though.
But this was the setup i was messing with.

The orion looks fine in the correct 16:9 resolution(1280x720)

Later i changed the resolution to 800x600 because i was having fov problems, it got a little stretched but still was great, this was like the only good screenshot i did, because dip**** me decides to take pictures with the camera and play at the same time

It's real fun to play fs2 like this, very cinematic like with all the 3.6.8's, in these screenshots however i was using the delta's and didn't quite have the engine flares yet

i'm having mixed feeelings about the impulse to drool and the impulse to murder you the most painfull way possible :p

I hardly use the tv, myself. Maybe twice a year i'll actually watch satellite on it, a couple of times i may watch a movie on it. But at least i used it for it's full potential. ****ty 480 satellite, upscaled dvd's, and hi-res cinematic quality video games(fs2). Not to mention it's got 5.1 surround sound that does dts, and the subwoofer is twice the height of the coffee table(the one in the picture) and half it's length(shakes the whole house). Just cut me on the fact i used it for it's full potential, but don't kill me because i completely don't take advantage of it. But the tv alone was 6k$. And this is all my older bro's get up. Yeah i think i conquered the question asked about widescreen displays and widescreen resolutions in fs2.
The answer is despite fov problems...IT'S FUN

That makes two of us, excuse me but for your on sake, try to remember what happened to Rictor. Dont make me add another one to the list. :p
Just imagine playing the whole campaign in that tv, it's just absurd. What's the size of a colossus on that thing?
-
I didn't play any missions with the colossus on that thing, but i did get up close with that hecate's barrels in the nebula and almost got that tiny feeling. But yeah, as long as you use the right resolution, you'll get no warping, if you look at the perseus shot, it has some side stretching becuase i switched from 1280x720 to 800x600.
