There was a problem with either Servelocity or their ISP's DNS servers. DNS problems are nearly always short.
-
Ah, that 'splains it.
-
There was downtime?
-
Does that mean if I used HLP's internet protocal address instead of the uniform resource locator I'd still been able to access it?
-
Nope.

:yes2: Its back up now anyway so we can rejoice

Seems like a number of sites were down for me last night. I figured something happend that was more widespread so I wasn't too concerned.
-
Nope.
Interesting.
I thought if it was purely the DNS server playing up that directly accessing the IP address either via the address bar or the hosts.txt file would in theory bypass the DNS server and thus no problemo...?

Depends on how the server is configured, this type of configuration is rarely suitable in multi-domain setups. Also, all references in html-/php-code such as the forums are set to use the domain, they wouldn't work correctly even if you could access the forums via IP.

You can always trust Fury to throw in a good technobabble... :p
When I direct my next SciFi series, he's going to be the science officer... ;)

Don't forget to hire a good number of redshirts.
