Title: help
Post by: OMFG PWNT on July 04, 2006, 06:15:26 am
ok i wanted to make a god mission with hundreds of sathanas and colossus fighting but when i played it they dont use their beam and dont launch fighters from their fighter bay. plz tell me how. also how do u fix ur damage bug when u shot corvettes and larger? lik go shoot moloch itll take u a full day to reduce its damage to 10% with non bomb weaps (also u cant get its health lower than 10% i had hundreds of fighters firing at the moloch for 10min nothing happened), but ur allies do the damage about right. lik i mean moloch got 40k hp if cyclops does 2k damage, and i used missile n all still takes so long
thx for support

Eh? slow down, and read the Fred 2 docs fully (follow the tutorial mission lesson) and then see if it solves your problem.

Oh yeah

Hlp blah, flametrowers blah, exits blah etc................. enjoy your stay and whatnot......

1) The covette thing is not a bug. :v:  designed the game that way. In fact it use to stick at 10% previously but now instead it just gets harder at 10% and impossible to knock a ship below 1%.
The solution is to edit the tables in order to give weapons the huge flag (which allows them to do normal damage once the 10% mark has been reached).

2) FS2 has a limit to the number of ships that can be on screen at one time. Too many Saths and Colossi will get you to that limit much quicker (the number of subsystems is a factor in what that number is). Don't be surprised if you find your mission starts to crash FS2 or FRED when it gets too large.

3) Beams are turned on either using the beam-free-all SEXP or the option in the Mission Specs Editor (FRED2_Open only). If you're having to ask you really should read the walkthrough though. There's likely to be a lot of other important things you'll miss otherwise.

English. Learn it.
Punctuation. Use it.
Legibilty. Attempt it.

I wouldn't try having more than two operational Sathanas at a time. That's a frggin' huge amount of firepower right there, and it'll give you some space for putting up the GTVA couterattack.

Hmm.... the most Sathanases I've ever seen in one mission was four. Course, none of them were moving, they were just pieces to a mssive Shivan installation.
