Title: I'm embarassed to even ask...
Post by: Rictor on July 06, 2006, 08:30:38 pm
How do you customize your MySpace backgrounds, colours, fonts etc. In other words, where can I specify which particular shade of vibrant pink will assault the senses when someone clicks on the MySpace profile.

The reasons for my embarasement are:

1. Because I make freaking websites, CSS and PHP and all that good stuff, and after 20 minutes of searching I still can't find where to change the settings that every pea-brained 13 year-old in the world has customized.

2. Because MySpace is a sin against mankind, a plague on decent society, and wouldn't normally touch it with a ten foot clown pole. Except this isn't for me, it's for someone else.

So aid me, my loyal minions, and victory will be swift and merciless!

I think you can put style code in the "About me" box.

Just Google "MySpace Layouts", find a site that doesn't just use the words to attract traffic, and then copy/paste the code into the About Me box like Solatar said.

Ah yes. I've found template sites, which are actually pretty decent, at least comapred to the rest of MySpace templates.

Thanks guys. Now let's never speak of this again.

Just ask her out instead of trying to get into her good graces with your tech skills :p

My friend asked me to sort out her MySpace awhile ago. Since I have a very good knowledgo of HTML/CSS/blah same as you it shouldn't have been a problem.
But nooo... I took me weel over an hour to figure out that the only way to do it is to stick CSS in the About Me Whatever inputs. Ridiculous, As if MySpace wasn't bad enough with standards, let's break it even more by inserting CSS all over the page and hope it will override the older stuff! Ha ha!

Pffftt, ****ing idiotic. Anyone who has a MySpace page shouldn't pollute it with any such poorly implemented styles. It's beyond stupid.

People use templates?

Oh, that was low ;) ;) Though you're right in a way, I'm offering up my tech skillz to get hopefully something in return later, though in this case it's a job rather than...something else

People use templates?

Yes indeed. One site I've found actually offers templates that don't make the viewer go into shock upon seeing it, and look like someone actually designed them.

Nah, I was being very badly sarcastic.  I've seen mySpace templates, and they're more or less uniformly hideous, with browser crippling transparency on top of hideous backgrounds and featuring oodles of illegible text.

Which is why I'm glad I just found some generic black/grey/white style.
