I have searched and cant find a thread telling me how.
Please point me to a FAQ or tell me how to add a ship/object in FRED. Thanks.
-
READ the FRED2 documentation that COMES WITH THE GAME, Do the tutorial before asking uxxor questions.
and by the way
:welcome:
and your user name does you justice :P
-
What tutorial? Could you please point me to the file? I cant find it in the main DIR
-
*cough freddocs folder* Did you DL FS" or buy it? if you DL'd it i got no clue where to get them from.
For the record press ALT+F4 to add ships.
-
That quits the game.
Also, I dled it. I used to own it, but lost it while moving countries
Also, what kinda file is the Tutorial? I found the freddocs folder. It has some stuff about Fred, like a Cascading Style Sheet Document and a screenshot of FRED in action.
-
There ought to be some tutorial included in the installation but incase it isnt you should get pretty far just by going through this Using FRED2 (http://www.woodentoyandgift.com/GTD/fred/).. though it might be pretty old and links may not be exactly valid but the basic stuff is the same..
Some info is already and additional stuff may should will (lets be optimistic) appear also to FSWiki (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) and more precisely to it's FRED pages (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Portal:FRED)

Where in the installation? Do i need to re-install?
-
I think the tutorial is the same as one that can be found from the first link..
And no.. no re-install is needed.
-
Its an HTML file or HTM (same difference) index or fred2 possibly, In any case just press F1 or go to help and it should pop up...
-
If you have a Freddocs folder with anything in it (Some people don't depending on where they downloaded the game from) you simply need to open Index.html in your browser to access the docs.

For the record press ALT+F4 to add ships.
That is no way to treat a newbie. You've just been banned for a day.
As for the actual problem... to add a ship, you simply ctrl-click on an area of space. Very simple problem, one that many people have trouble with.
-
It took me the best part of a week to figure that one out :D
-
I never had that problem in placing ships but there was a time when I was working in the campaign editor and I forgot you need to do the same thing to add missions there too.
Wasn't the first time I'd ever used it either so I was getting really confused as to what I was doing wrong :)

Rofl, I deserved that.
Apologies man. :D

Now worries. I did that first thing, so nothing was lost.
