Hello,
I'm new here, so I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. Anyiway, I recently went on a nostalgia click, and replayed Freespace from way back when. I was surprised and pleased to find out a sequel was made. After not finding it commercially available, I did what I normally don't, downloaded the entire game off bittorrent.
I beat the campaign (and am currently WTFing over blowing up a sun... what's up with that?), and decided to move on to the custom campaigns I read about.
In what seems completely arbitrary, freespace allows you to play the main campaign off the hard drive, but wants a CD in the drive if you want to play a custom one. Unforutanetly, I don't have the CDs. Every link I try to get to download a CD image is dead. What's the easiest way to resolve this problem?
Thank you in advance,
Rov

You have two choices. One's simple and the other is better.
1) Go to the download page of my FAQ and download the HotU crack pack. The files in that rar archive will update Freespace2 to v1.2 (If you haven't already) and remove the need for CD2.
2) Get FS2_Open. It's a fair bit more complicated a solution than the first one but if your PC can handle it the better quality graphics will blow you away. Not to mention that it will allow you to play a whole host of SCP enhanced or SCP only mods. My FAQ has a guide on how to upgrade what you have to full SCP gloriousness but if that seems like a tall order you can find a prepackaged version in the Download FS2 Links thread at the top of this forum.
