I hope the new series is good. I've been waiting awile and I hope to see some more battles with the Ori. Hopefully the new series of Stargate Atlantis does well too. :)
-
They've already syndicated Stargate: Atlantis on my local Fox station. I caught pieces of the first episode and all of them second, and I liked it a lot.

*pthyi* SG-1 season 9+ is killing good name of the original series. They should have made season 9+ a spin-off series like Atlantis was, instead of derailing the original series beyond salvation.

Thank God someone else sees it the same way I do. Yeah, Browder and Black are awsome and all, but nothing can match the wit of good old RDA. And the story has gotten so ****ty, its pathetic. I'd rather of had SG1 end at season 9, and then have them make some new Farscape... As a matter of fact, only reason I watch SG1 anymore is because Browder and Black are on there... If it wasnt for them, I'd have left the show by now.... Please for the love of Superman, put SG1 outta its misery and bring back Farscape.

Meh, what do you expect when they effectively reset the series with a new enemy, new characters, new direction and all that jazz? Of course it's going to be shakey for a good season or so, but now that they've got everything introduced, they can develop the characters, the enemies, and show off their accomplishment in getting Morena Baccarin on the show, which frankly is reason enough to watch. :p
SG1 FTW.

My vague recollection is that SG-1 took a good series or two to get worth watching when it started, so I wouldn't be too harsh on a reboot :) It's not as good as before, I'd agree ("In the middle of my backswing?!!"), but I still enjoy it.
-
Regardless of whether "all new SG-1" actually becomes watchable in a season or two, they should have made it a spin-off series instead of a new season of already well established and finished series. I know, they could have named it as "Stargate: Cheese".
-
You're not bitter about it, though.
-
my birthday=today too!!!
-
Happy Birthday! :)
For me, this has now gone officially into the 'Flogging dead Horse' box. It was a great series when it started, but when you start trying to squeeze too much out of a big name, you can kill the name for the sake of profit. I only hope it doesn't get that bad.
-
Season 9 was the best they've had since back in Season 5.
After Meridian, everything went to **** and focused too much on Anubis.
-
Stargate peaked years back it relies on a set of formulae per epsidoe ala startrek. In trek you had a set numbre of possible plot lines. >>
Alien being traps ship, Enemy Beings take over ship/infiltrate crew, Time travel, Transporter mishap, Aliens hold away team prisoner on a planet, Crew rescue, Alternate universe /alternate enterprise appears or captain gets laid.
I'm sure i can think of more but they all fit into that mould.
Stargate has>
*SG1 finds tech-fights baddies
*Aliens hold SG1 prisoner
*SG1 saves stupid natives from big bad aliens
*SG1 finds tech, loses tech calls asgard for help, asgard pwn all
*SG ALpha site/Outpost gets pwned hours later SG1 turn up *spooky*
*SG1 bring virus/parasite/alien device to cheyenne mountain and avert nucular quarantine by seconds
*Jafar (?) send SG1 on a mission cos theyre too lazy to do it themselves
*SG1 kill system lord/mothership
-
its on right now
-
I'm so excited!
-
You forgot one of the most time honored plotlines (and clear countdown to the end of series life).
Member of the cast gets knocked up. ;7
I enjoyed them both tonight... Much ass-kicking.

Stargate has always been cheese. Don't change the subject.

Well, In case some of you don't know.... RDA left because he wanted to spend more time with his family, that being said, It's not Browder's fault. Personally I think everyone should just open up their minds and stop throwing turds in Mitchell's face.
Besides, Jack is still going to be on the show from time to time.
I mean, you guys didn't expect him to be in the show forever did you?
Browder is just taking the place of Jack, obviously he's not as good as Jack, but slightly bad SG-1 is better than NO SG-1.
Thought I'd just throw in my 2 cents.
-
RDA is going to be coming back.
In what capacity is still unclear, but apparently his kid's decided it's okay if he goes back to work again.
As for the eps: Loved the Ori Fighters (which totally blindsided me), the troop uniforms, Vala and the whole 'noble death' bit.
The Orion kicking Wraith ass was cool, and McKay and Sheppard were awesome with the quips.
Very good episodes. Though I hate cliffhangers.
-
God damn I missed it
(I'm at my sisters ATM)
Sounds really good
-
i think the best part is when they showed the trailor to snakes on a plane :D
-
When is it coming to the uk?
-
The Orii fighters were awesome. I could use a few of those ships, sans the religious fanatics aboard.
Similarly the Orion's jellyfish ninja strike was great. It was annoying that they decided to destroy it. I wonder if the scriptwriting committee went:
"For all Atlantis season finales/starts somewhere in there we need Ancient drones being fired, and the explosions per second count."
"Sure! The Orion fires them for the season three start, that works."
"Alright, but our explosion count is too low."
"Hrmm... well we were going to have it be the start of them building a fleet this season to take the fight to the Wraith but... blow up the Orion? We can get more ships I'm sure..."
"Great! By the way, I hit my head on the toilet and had a brilliant idea: the next few episodes between both shows are going to have almost all starships destroyed. Well except for hive-ships and Orii motherships which will make hot-sweet love when the Wraith convert to Origin for the next season finale..."
-
Funny you should mention that.
Apparently it's stated in an upcoming episode that the Ori have inflitrated 6 other galaxies since they found out the Ancients had seeded humans all over the place.
-
Seems the Ori are a bit jealous then?
-
I think I would like Browder's character if they didn't write him exactly like Crichton. But no, he still goes on his trademark idiom-packed rants that leave the non-Terrans in the room with blank stares.
I agree that SG-1 should be ended. It just all feels so very very tired at this point. Like they know they've used up the premise, but are afraid to change it. So we get the Ori as the Goauld Mark II.
SGA has left me thoroughly unimpressed from the start (far too many idiot plots), but the destruction of the Ancient warship in the premiere leaves me with a tiny smidge of hope that there's been a shakeup on the writing staff.
-
why oh why did they have to blow up the orion, it was the sexiest ship on the show :(
-
I never got into Atlantis, Orion Pics please :D
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_class_battleship
There's a pic. It's a bit low-quality, though.
I wanted to know more of the ship. They blew it up way too soon, I think :(
I hope they get another one soon.
-
Cheers, i prefer Asgard ships though :D
-
It took 40 f***ing hours straight, but the downloads are finally completely. Just, wow.
Atlantis was tops, we had some great action, a good twist in the Michael story, and finally some intelligent tactics by our ships, what with the 'spam nukes as soon as we drop to real-space' play. Not forgetting the very humorous Shep and Mckay quips; operation this-will-most-likely-end-badly ftw.
SG1 was definitely as good as Atlantis, and IMO gave a well-written, logical conclusion to the whipping we got at the end of last season, and really progressed the Ori as an enemy that can brush us aside with the wave of a hand, not to mention Adria going children-of-the-corn on everyone. I'm just wondering if Chekov made it off the Korolev, as what we'd do without our favorite ruski I just don't know.
Also, is it just me, or is Teal'c's hair... gone weird...?
-
You know, I think I'm enjoying SG-1 a little more now, and I think the plot can still go places, I don't enjoy it as much as the previous version, but that doesn't mean it's completely bombed.
-
Farscape FTW!
A nother series of Farscape would be awesome.
-
Cheers, i prefer Asgard ships though :D
indeed, i quite miss seeing them totally own the battlefield.
anyone got a model of one, id love seeing it in freespace :D
-
Does SCi Fi air the episodes any other time? Since they stopped airing Dr.Who on Fridays, I haven't really cared about the Sci Fi channel, everything else is pointless horror movies, with very few exceptions.
-
i'm of the opinion that they should cut SG-1's funding a bit (until they get Macgyver back) and give it to BSG, which is by far the superior show.
-
Well Nuke, you really should check the SG-1 forum more often. :D
SGC Command "Pilots - Pay NO ATTENTION to the muppet controlling this ship!

-
Y'know, you'd think whoever did the tables for that ship would have bothered to spell "Asgard" correctly.
-
heh, people tend to mispronounce viking terminology. mainly cause theres a bunch of different spellings for everything.
-
Look on the bright side, he didn't spell it "Assguard" ;)
-
You shall call me Na'onak no longer. From this day forward I will reclaim my real name: Apopthis!!!
-
heh, people tend to mispronounce viking terminology. mainly cause theres a bunch of different spellings for everything.
In general it's not that bad actually, and Asgard can really only be spelled Asgard. Problem is just that Stargate has been butchering the proper names horribly, so even if you get it right you may still get it wrong in the context of the show :p
-
Yeah i agree, if its an SG ship and SG spelt the name incorrect historically, then we still have to use the incorrect spelling to keep it SG canon.
But that ship looks :WHOOOPPEEE: !!!!!
-
Atlantis was alright, forseeable outcome but still entertaining. I didn't even bother to download SG-1.
-
Hey I'm lazy, it was a 5 minute conversion, and no one else did it, so stop complaining about a raw WIP or I'll start taking out all those spelling Nazi's with this handy staff weapon... :D
-
Mate i'm more than happy with the .POF right now, you could call it the babelfish and it wouldnt bother me.
The model rocks, hos the weapons coming along?
-

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was great.

Dunno, that's Jc4jc's department. I merely secured the mesh for testing . He will be getting some by the end of the week.
