I've gotten curious... I have DSL 786k about ( I think)
(I started this because I want to see how many people have 56K modems, becuase people keep on saying "oh noes! 20 megabytes!" and it cracks me up)
-
I bought the upgrade to Intarweb.
-
Im still using the local area ethernet. :/
-
Cable, 6.0 Megs Down, 512 KB up.
Also, as a backup I have a big truck.
-
256kb/s ADSL, not the fastest in the world, but does its job....
-
6m/768k cable, when it actually works that is. (has gone down over 10 times during the last week ::) )
-
I have about 400 internets. Nearly 20 are unread.
-
Cable 768

I don't know ... one of my assistants sent me an internet recently, but it's not working properly. I think some of them tubes are clogged.

Ah, what you need is one of those special internets, the ones with the magic tubes that are full of brib...sorry, campaign contributions.
-
I'm rolling on 32kpbs. That's actually slow for me. I usually connect at 40kpbs.
-
i got cable, i think its 1 or 2 megabit
-
1M in 512k out ADSL
[edit: fix0r3d]
-
i've got a series of tubes that come out the back of my computer.
-
The retarded one.
Well, it feels like it most days anyway.
-
512M out ADSL
Impressive. :p
-
I haven't got a clue, just know the connection speed from my computer to the router.
-
300k or 400k down and 256k up.
chances are that the ISP is upgrading me to 1meg down, 512k up
-
2048/512k - Too expensive for what it is though due to one company sitting on all the actual lines and everybody else having to rent them. 25km away in Sweden I could have it thrice as fast for half the price, and yes, I am jealous :p

Hamsters + Wheels.

Don't you know anything! That's why internet lottery is allowed, so the lottery balls can pass through the tubes, clearing out all the clogs.

Hamsters + Wheels.
I've got DSL, 54 Mb/s. Considering I used to have AOL dial-up (56k), it's a hell of an improvement. :D
-
Ted has a series of tubes. Not big trucks.

-
10M down, about 2M up depending on traffic.
-
6000/800k
-
2M/512k ADSL, 35€/month.
-
512M out ADSL
Impressive. :p
ah feck :p

Right now I need to use my girlfriend's wireless internet which is resonably fast. Soon we will get ADSL which is even faster.
-
Wireless broadband? GET THEE BEHIND ME, DEMON!
*ahem*
Some of the houses I've been to look at in the last few weeks had wireless broadband. I wrote them off immediately; only one of my computers is portable, and ALL my computers need reliable, fast connections both to the Internet and each other. Wireless is neither reliable nor fast in my unfortunately extensive experience, and I'm certainly not paying for five wireless NICs for my desktop machines which already have standard NICs built in to the mainboards.
WTF is the point of wireless for desktop boxen, anyway? It's not like they're moving anywhere.
-
Still on dial-up. Probably circa 50k. :sigh:
Dunno why.
Browse on the mam 'n' dads pc nowadays so I don't have any say in such matters. :(
Maybe that's why I've lost interest in such things nowadays :doubt:

:wtf: Who says I have a desktop? Both of us have laptops.

Her wireless internet is quite fast (150 something Kbps) and fairly reliable. We could go anywhere in China and it will work. The only reason we are looking into ADSL as well as what she has is because we don't have a home network so only one of us can use the internet at any given time, which is usually her (plus ADSL is very, very fast in this country).

i use wireless broadband. i'm at the hospital now with one of my friends, who just had her appendix removed; been sitting next to her bed all night to take care of her, and been online the whole time (the hospital's wifi is too complicated. you have to request an access-code, etc.)
anyway. here's a speed test.
dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-07-23 09:54:19 EST:
910 / 248
Your download speed : 910 kbps or 113.8 KB/sec.
That is 98.2% better than an average user on myvzw.com
Your upload speed : 248 kbps or 31 KB/sec.
That is 5.5% better than an average user on myvzw.com

Down at ~500k. Up not sure. Cable modem.
It's running slow right now though. I think I have a loose fan belt on my search engine.

I was actually alluding to the large number of students at my Uni who have large and very definitely non-portable desktop boxen and yet insist upon using wireless. Which is really fine by me, until they call me in and ask why it's not working properly.
