You know the sort, where you get a unit of money every two hours, can build up a planet with nukes and create a fleet of killer warships, or mass an army and blockade a planet. All in html goodness............I would post a link to an example but i've forgotten what they are called
-
Well, I think I could name quite a number of German so-called "browsergames" but I really don't know about English games like this. A long time ago there was an English version of "SpaceAssault" but that game seems to die.
-
http://www.treadon.us/ (http://www.treadon.us/) I always played that in college, (Dopewars anyone?)
www.starkingdoms.com/ STARKINGDOMS is the game i tried to remember, I wasted two weeks of coursework time playing that. And then i nuke one of my classmates at the time. Good old days :D
-
Not Sci-fi but I'm a big fan of Kingdom of Loathing (http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/login.php).
-
Is Territories still going? I remember getting addicted to that.
-
Not Sci-fi but I'm a big fan of Kingdom of Loathing (http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/login.php).
Extreme Mittens..................Genius :D :D :D
-
:) If you play give me a shout out as to what your name is. I ascended 2-3 days ago but before that I had more mana than I knew what to do with and resorted to buffing random members of my clan.
-
Lord Muscle, a....................*cough*, ermmm, Disco bandit??
:nervous:
Dont judge me.....*runs away*

Lord Muscle, a....................*cough*, ermmm, Disco bandit??
:nervous:
Dont judge me.....*runs away*
I can't help but judge that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I joined just about half four, You made me waste an hour getting pebbles for the Orio, but i like it :D
I now have a Mosquito called Sir Horace.......FEAR MY DISCO BALLS !
I heartily reccomend this to all HLP members, We must form a clan.......
-
I've been wanting to form a HLP clan for a while. Only problem is that Aldo is the only regular player I know of. I'm currently playing in Oxycore so I won't be able to send any buff out for a while (Oxycore is the most difficult way to play the game but it has some nice rewards) but once I'm out of hardcore mode if there are a bunch of interested people around we can see about setting up a clan :)
-
Right at the moment, i'm limited to the island with the seaside town on it, Once i reach level five i can form my own clan, not that i will. Any advice on how to proceed [i wann leave this damned island]
-
Basically the majority of the game is set on the island but new locations open up on it (or the smaller Mysterious Island of Mysteries you can see in the bottom corner of the map).
As you increase in level you get given new places you can go and new things to do. Check in with the Council of Loathing every time you level up. There's a new quest for every level from them. With the exception of the one set in the dark and sinister cave you need to complete all their quests to defeat the Naughty Sourceress and ascend (which should be your eventual goal).
The other place you should visit is your guild (as a disco bandit you should check the wrong side of the tracks). There are a few more quests in there that open up more places to go to.
As for a clan I've got about 2 million meat stored at Hagriks so setting up a clan isn't a problem. The problem is that I don't have access to it at the moment since in hardcore mode you're not allowed to touch anything from a previous ascension.
-
Cheers for the tips, A new quest for every level up, I shall try that :D
Damn goofball comedown, I got em within 3 minutes of starting, I didnt take em till yesterday.
I'm still coming down now. :wakka:
-
Yeah. There are only two times in the game when you can take them safely. When you're planning to take on the NS the next day (She removes any effects you have on you which includes goofball withdrawl) and if you plan to ascend anyway.
Like I said I'm happy to make a clan but there needs to be more than you and me (and aldo and skippy if I can pursuade them).
-
Well I just signed up as Rabid_Elephant the Pastamancer. Looks interesting.
On another note, I used to play OGame (http://www.ogame.org) habitually, but then I found out that I had better things to do. :nervous:
-
Brad: The Game (http://www.bradthegame.com/)

On another note, I used to play OGame (http://www.ogame.org) habitually, but then I found out that I had better things to do. :nervous:
Gah, I'm currently addicted to Ogame... in unis 21 and 22, and ranked 400-something in 21.
Problem is I know I have to cut back on it before classes start up again... that's going to be tough. =/
Edit: On the upside, I'm now able to build battleships in 21. Ownage. :D
-
Ok, that game (KoL) is seriously weird... but strangely fun and addictive. I have no idea really what I'm doing yet, but I'm enjoying it :p
-
I used to like Robot Wars but unless you started early in a game you constantly got hosed over by bigger bots.
Then I was addicted to Tradewars2002, which ue to luck you could hide out in a seldom explored sector logn enough to build an empire...
Once I discovered Mr Gore's incention () I started to despise page games... Maybe I am spoiled now (full 3d or it's not for me)?
-
Sweet, KoL it has a text adventure in it - I'm hooked now, long time since I played one of those... looks like I can even get eaten by a grue if I try hard enough :)
-
Everyone that posts their KoL name will get a Beer from me in-game. :pimp:
-
Hell CD, what's happened to your sig! You've gone from light hearted and comedic to all bold and philosophical?
Me no like! :no::sigh:
-
Sweet, KoL it has a text adventure in it - I'm hooked now, long time since I played one of those... looks like I can even get eaten by a grue if I try hard enough :)
CLEESH!
-
WobBle, better? lol
-
That's the CD we all know! :D
-
That good or bad ;7
I gotta say everytime i read a Wobble post, its in vernon or peter kayes voice........
-
Everyone that posts their KoL name will get a Beer from me in-game. :pimp:
I'm Thrangor the Cold but you'd have to gift wrap it cause I'm still in hardcore mode. Plus I'm an oxygenarian so I couldn't drink it either anyway. I'll send anyone who posts their name something once I've defeated the Naughty Sorceress though. At the moment I'm doing my best "Hulk Smash!!!" impression on everything I find to make twinkly powder so I don't have anything nice to give out that I don't already need for myself.
Muscle day in 2 days time and I should have 200 adventures available by then though :)
-
Neveron is a nice Battletech based game. It's a [understatement] tad [/understatement] confusing, though.
-
BTW I'm out of Oxycore mode now so if anyone posts their KOL username dinner and drinks are on me tomorrow :)
-
'Tis tempting, but personally I've decided to do my first run unaided to not miss out on anything I ought to learn :) I doubt I'd appreciate the finer points of cooking, cocktail-making and using the elements and combat skills to make Yetis doable at this point if I hadn't done that.
So anyway, username's Zhade if you want to buy me a beer or something, but please nothing more than that ;) And congrats on finishing the ascension, not being able to either eat or drink the whole time must have been tedious as hell, but of course, the challenge is the fun in these sorts of games :)
-
Fair enough and I understand where you're coming from but I have 300 adventures to burn through at the Icy Peak and I recharge MP at a furious rate and I'd rather send buffs to people on HLP than random members of my clan to get rid of the excess :)
-
I'm always for free crap.........
-
Same, but only when it won't affect the fun of the game :) Anyways, I'm kinda in farming mode for the next day or two I think, as I want a couple of expensive skills I'm missing... so since you've got too much MP I guess some buffs can't hurt for that since I've already done this area to death :p
-
Does it affect the game if i leave that stone in my campground unbroken forever. Also the bar in disco-bandit training seems to kick my ass every time, What level do i need to be to get the beer?
-
I think you just need a high enough Moxie. I was able to do all the SC tasks at, um, I think it was 22 muscle, so I figure a Moxie around that ought to do it for you.
-
Actually You've kinda missed the boat now. I ascended to Oxycore again a couple of hours ago. I'll send some stuff once I'm out of it again (I have some canned air as the reward from the last oxycore so this one should go much faster). :)
I did send some more buffs CDs way though as well as a nice picnic basket :)
-
I have ascended once more and am now an Oxygenarian Pastamancer
-
Cheers Karajorma, Nice one. Now i've spelt it right, that gives me a window of accuracy freedom for a week or two. :nervous:
gahk...........edit
Stupid Meat ar, i forgot all about it. I have a Sprocket cog spring thing, Meat tank and meat engine,. I can tget a stack and this is fraKKing me off.
-
You only need 100 meat to make a meat stack. Combine that with your empty meat tank and you're good to go. You'll need wheel though :)
-
K, i'll give that a try.............Who do i still owe a beer to?
RE: Meatsmithing, I bought a tenderising hammer, but i cant seem to buy a meatstack from the meatsmith and the option doesnt appear in my inventory>smithstuff options.....
I think i'm gonna buy some goofballs and hit the pub.......
-
You need to make the meat stacks yourself in the same way you make meat paste
100 meat = meat stack and 1000 meat = dense meat stack.
-
EDIT- Meat stack all done, lol Now i am krypton factor style trying to work this crazy car nonsense out :D
EDIT] My brain is shorted out form work and associated stuff, My car just wont form, I cant find bloomin rims, I'll try the Flea market.

Eldred Reborn, seal clubber!
just beat the goblin king the other day =D
-
I played for awhile as the Disco Bandit, but dropped out.
I really only wanted to see the Penultimate Fantasy Airship anyways...and dammit, I've forgotten the spiel for the Protagonist. :(
-
This is a 12-year-old boy who has somehow become one of the most powerful warriors in the world. He's on a quest to both save the world and somehow redeem himself from a past he doesn't remember. Perhaps getting a little bit of a smackdown will jar his memory.
He hits you in the <forehead> with a sword the size (and sharpness) of a cricket bat. Eek! Ouch!
He headbutts you and impales your <ear> with his spiky hair. Ugh! Ooh!
He somehow fires a bullet at you from the hilt of his sword. It bids a friendly "hello" to your internal organs. Ooh! Ouch! Eek! Oof! Ooh!
He hits you with his giant sword, which fortunately is about as sharp as your thumb. You shrug it off.
He tries to headbutt you but collapses under the weight of his enormous hairdo.
He somehow fires a bullet at you from the hilt of his sword. Fortunately, the bullet clangs harmlessly off the sword's giant blade.
-
I'm surprised noone mentioned Achaea.
Closest thing you'll get to a MMORPG Morrowind. Entirely player-run economy and politics. Rediculously developed gameworld that players can actually cause massive changes in (lots and lots of actual roleplaying). And it's free, although you can buy skill credits as a sort of donation.
-
Does anyone have some good sci fi browser games that don't have a dinky turn system?
Speaking of dinky turn systems, if you like those, TDZK: www.tdzk.net (I think) is a good one. Buy your ship, upgrade it, cruise the galaxy.
-
Wee, I killed the naughty sorceress! With 9 hps and 1 adventure left :D
-
Congratulations. I've never gone quite to the wire in that way (I've defeated her as badly damaged and as low on adventures but never in the same ascension).
Any choice on what you want to ascend to next time?
One tip. Don't play oxygenarian yet. Get a few skills under your belt first otherwise it will take you months to ascend.
-
Went for sauceror, currently getting used to not being able to hit anything again... though the sorceress gave me a few lessons in that too :p Gawd that was annoying, only item/skill she'd let me use was that indigestion thing I got from an insanely spicy burrito, everything else and it just didn't happen.
It took my fourth try to get her since on the earlier ones I actually tried to use strategy... healing potions, combat items etc., but in the only thing that worked was spamming that same skill non stop until she died. If I could've actually used my other skills just a couple of times, it would not have been as close, in fact I would've rocked HER on the g*d**m dais :p
-
I found double-handed photoprotoneutron torpedoes to be very effective last time I played :)
-
Yeah, well, I kinda blew that one. I sold most of my duplicate stuff to raise money for the arena to level familiars (I was nearly broke), and I kinda sorta ended up selling all but one of those before I realised how useful they could be. Oops.
-
I permanented the Lunging Thrust Smack and Ambidexterous Funkslinging. Then if I'm in real trouble I just alternate between thrust smacks and drinking healing potions at a time while letting my combat familiar do some of the work. Thanks to funkslinging it is actually possible to recharge faster than she can beat you up so the only worry is going over the 30 or so turns you are allowed for each stage.
One huge tip when dealing with the NS is to get hold of the furry suit (tricky to get hold of in hardcore but worth it). The NS scales with you so anything you do to reduce your moxie actually makes it easier to hit her too.

and in the game?
-
Format c:
Kills all the enemies :)
-
Must.. level.. past... 6..
Sheesh, this is hard...
The pastamancer says: Entangling noodles = THE way to beat stuff.
The NS says: You can't use that...
The pastamancer says: WTF?
EDIT: Whoops, misread that. Now I get it..
Good grief, now I understand how to play this game! Yes! 100 turns a day! Go pastamancer! Next I shall do sauceror, then... um... Accordian theif!
Mmmmm.... wine spritzers...
Mmmm.... ode to booze.... (1 week later... "where's my ode to booze!")
Oh... or did I misread that...
-
I'm at Level 7, I'm just bumping to L9 before i lay the Knobgoblin King flat out, I dont wanna try before that, He is tough as nails........
-
Really? I've always found him a pushover. Especially once you can Lunging-Thrust-Smack the crap out of him. If you have a moxie over 60 he can't even touch you in fact.
-
I tried back when the Quest first becae available, He pasted me................I'd rather use ridiculous over kill tbh.
Lunging thrust-smack?
Never mind i x-ed him. Now i have the crown :D That'll keep me going till igot the skillz to wear my football helmet :D
Flipping white citadel.......I rode a cheetah while eating catnip, Now i'm out of adventures, And my monies meats tied up in "business" :nervous:
-
The hairsprays from the market helped me lots against bosses on my first run. Dirt cheap and good moxie boost, very nice when something is otherwise owning you :)
Speaking of owning though, I'm getting hurt rather badly now by stuff that couldn't touch me at the same moxie level on my first run - Does it get harder with each ascension, or did something just change? Still getting by, but I seem to be spending an unexpected and inordinate amount of effort healing after every couple of fights in the higher level areas now. Just glad I got lucky before I knew this and picked a myst class with healing spells available, or this would be even more trouble.
-
Myst classes tend to have a hard time of it I find (I've played both classes less than any other). They lack the moxie to avoid damage and the muscle to deal it out quickly so unless you have plenty of MP and use a lot of spells you're going to have trouble.
The game shouldn't get any harder though.
Lunging Thrust Smack is a Seal Clubber skill and it's one of the best in the game for kicking the crap out of things quickly :)
-
Well i'm a Disco Bandit, I have disco-eye-poke, And Moxious Manouvre, I got others but theyre passive skillZ.....
Any bandit tips?
(That sounds so wrong)
-
I tend to find the Disco Bandit and Accordian Trainer the easiest characters to deal with. Your moxie advances in both cases at such speed that in most cases monsters simply can't even touch you in the first place. It's only when you start to getting to the peak or beanstalk that you generally encounter creatures you can't beat.
I tend to not use much strategy with either the DB or AT. I just moxie up until nothing can touch me mostly.
-
I tend to get bladdered on booze, then go nuts with a pixel sword.........
-
Yes! Now that is how to make big $$$!
The knob goblin treasury roxxors for $$! I have Cone of W/e at level 8. (but so does any char who's ascended and is pastamancer.)
I tend to complain that spices cost to much, then either go to the haunted woods and get some, or just buy some. Then I buy herbs, then I cook them, then I make delicious spicy noodles!
Then I do the white glade or w/e, and show the guy a good time. Then I use soda water, and make wine spritzers.
Makes for super Mysticality training, and adds +20 to 30 turns per day!
6 spritzers, 3 delicious spicy noodles = 60 turns, 72 mysticalness points. and 18 drunkeness, and near fullness...
Pasta strategy 1. When moxie is good compared to monster accuracy. "Entangling noodles!" rinse and repeat till opponent hits 1's.
2. When opponent hits all the time, and hard. Pre battle, springy fusilli, have kickback cookbook. "Cone of... Whatever!" Until you die or they die.
-
It seems we got a few KoL players in here, Who would be up for a HLP clan, and we need a Funny name to fit the letters HLP too.
Any suggestions, IE.
Happy Infinity Lads,
etc...........
-
Hard lite? :D
-
Anyone got a tip on where to get items to trade with the Hermit, The KOL Forums pants i cant be bothered with Haikkus.
Whos up for a HLP clan then?
Mathwiz you play KoL?
-
I'll be happy to set one up I've been looking into the cost and it seems I can afford to do it using just the proceeds I made from my last ascension (Which means I won't have to dip into my savings or ask for donations).
We just need to sort out a name though. Something appropriate to KoL but pointing out where we come from. :) I'd like to know who is interested though. Not much point if it's only going to be me and Colonel Dekker :D
Suggestions for a name :
Bosch! Bosch! Bosch!
The Hardy Light Boys
Admiral Perarch's Fantasic Fanclub
The League of Headz Collectors
The Hard Light Duct Crawlers
We Wuv Fishes
:)
CD : You've got a couple of choices. Either you fish in the sewer. Or you adventure in the valley of Baron ROTFLMAO and collect some 31337 scrolls. The second time you use one you get some of the items you need.
-
The Hardy Light Boys sounds perfect, We need a recruiting drive, Come on guys join up and get one free piece of meat from me :D
-
Having you guys in a clan would make it easier for me to give out buffs too. I've got myself a Plexiglass Pith Helmet now so I have more mana than I know what to do with about once a fortnight :)
-
Even better, Join the Hardy Light Boys, get a meat piece and Kaj will "buff you"
[less messy than it sounds]
-
I thought we were supposed to be pursuading people to join :p
-
 OK guys ignore my previous post, I reckon the HLP crew wil lbe the new badasses of KoL, We will get a meat tree and Gym etc i'd imagine, but we need members for roles like clan chef, clan warlord and clan noob helper.......
I personally will be Clan layabout.
-
I'll add a clan gym if there is a call for it. Personally the only time I'd ever consider using a gym is if it is my main stat day (or I have over 160 adventures) and I had stupidly gotten myself drunk.
Rest of the time you'll do far better adventuring as you'll gain meat and roughly the same amount of stats.
-
OK, scrap the gym..................Anyone up for Clan positions in particular?
-
Fine with me :)
-
Hell, I'll join :) I'm also kinda heavy on meat right now (nothing to spend it on besides skills as I decided to try hardcore), so if there's anything that needs to be bought I can help out.
Not that it has been short on clan offers, mind you. I got 3 from various (presumably) newbie clans on my first day, complete with touches of leetspeak and stupid abbreviations like 'plz' and 'u' ;) I politely ignored them...
-
What job you want?
-
You mean I'd have to work? What kind of recruitment speech is that? :p Besides, I know nothing about clans, so what are the options?
[Edit] Oh, and if you haven't created it yet, I'd suggest 'The Harrrdy Light Boys' instead. I mean, come on, that clan name just begs for a little pirate speak.
-
Good one. I'll set them up as soon as I can get KoL to work properly (It's been very slow for me today).
-
Okay guys. I've set the clan up.
Do a search of clans for The Harrrdy Light Boys and you'll find it (run by Thrangor The Cold) Those people already on my contact list (That's CD and CannonFodder really) are already pre-approved. I'll let the rest of you in once you apply :)
-
Once I get to level 3 I'll head for the clan district ;)
-
Nice work :) I put a few meat stacks and a few of the more annoying-to-farm items in the stash to help non-hardcore players speed up their run a bit.
-
Cool. I'll add some stuff once I get out of oxycore. Had planned to do it today but I'm stuck at level 10 and I can't get the NS quest for another level.
-
Well, I'm Thragor the Crabslayer, Level 2 Pastamancer, what's the best way to get more adventure points? I know you can get it from food and drink, but I'm not too certain where to get them from.
Edit : Nevre mind, and oops, I never realised how similar my name was to Kara's, that was unintentional :/
-
That's okay. I was a little surprised when I saw it though :)
-
Oddly enough, that's the name of my old Diablo 2 character when I used to play :)
-
Well the first character I had in KoL was a Seal Clubber. I wanted him to have a really Barbarian sounding name so hence Thrangor The Cold.
Pretty ironic that we'd choose such similar names completely seperately :)
Come to think of it I think my name was originally Thragor but I added a n to the name to make it a little less likely someone would have the same name :D
-
Sounds like you've both had the same children's story read to you as kids, leaving an otherwise invisible scar on your psyche that makes you choose that name for fantasy characters. Or maybe it's a government mind-control conspiracy... seen any black helicopters lately? And if so, how many more Thrangor/Thragors the Somethings can we expect to join? This is creepy... :p
PS. Please let there be clovers tomorrow. I came up one short and I'm stuck in the lair :(
-
I applied. Lvl 9 pastamancer.
And I still can't beat the stupid dragon in the spooky crypt...
-
Your in-game name? I might be able to make something that can help, and I *think* I can still send people stuff while in hardcore :)
-
You can send as much as you like from a hardcore account. You just can't receive anything.
-
I'm about to apply, under the name Arouet.
-
Added. Sending buffs :)
I really do have nothing else to spend the MP on :)
-
OK, just checked, and i'm leaving the Clan of 10'000 fists........So i'm gonna spend as much Karma and nick from their stash as possible.
(I think they're gonna break my knees,)
But its worth it
-
Be careful about doing that. You could get your name on the cache looters lists that are going around. Which is especially bad if you play PvP.
-
I payed with Karma, I put money in the coffers, I even gave the Chief a goodbye Beer.
I am honest to the edge, but I rarely go over.............. :nervous:
-
Yay, there are clovers :) Just gotta spend the day leveling familiars now and I can finish up the sorceress tomorrow, after which I should hopefully have some more useful stuff to put in the stash.
-
I'm putting in an "amulet of extreme plot significance" unless someone wants a straight swap.
Plus the flippin Bonedragon is being a tard to kill.

Well, there are way around pesky dragons. Such as, for example, using a can of hairspray from the market, drinking the potion I'm about to send you, getting rid of Beaten Up using the eyedrop antidote I'm also about to send you, and then trying again ;) Just make sure to use a ranged weapon or you probably won't be able to hit it very often.
-
Also don't use skills to beat him. Get your moxie up over 90 (preferably over 100 so he can't touch you) and then hit him repeatedly with a ranged weapon.
-
Oh yeah. Not using a ranged weapon was probably my biggest mistake this ascension. I couldn't hit anything cause I was picking items with a moxie boost while still using a melee weapon. Cost me a lot of adventures before I caught on to that.
-
OK, i'm taking all this in, I'm gonna bump my moxie up then, maybe train up by beating pirates up............
-
Trust me, once you get rid of Beaten Up, the potion you've just recieved from me will take care of it ;) With that and hair spray combined, you should hit 100 moxie easy. Just make sure you're healed up etc. as there's still the risk of critical hits getting through your high moxie. And if you don't have a decent ranged weapon, the ball and chain from Armory and Leggery would probably suffice for the job.
-
Gah! Goofball withdrawl is rediculously long.
-
Actually, if you take it more then three times it's forever. I think.
-
Not quite. But if you keep taking goofballs you start losing stats from using them. Taking another goofball does remove the effect for the rest of the day though. Which probably makes it worth taking another one today and recovering tomorrow when it isn't a stat day.
The only safe time to take goofballs is just before you fight the naughty sorceress or just before you ascend.
-
Remember Kiddies, Goofballs are no Joke.............
-
Kids, don't do drugs.
I can see in health class now... Goofballs are a highly addictive substance. Luckily, after the three day hump, you're safe. But if you take them too long... That's not cool man. They act like negative steroids. Except they make you look ugly as hell.
-
www.nationstates.net, This was re-highlighted in another topic somewhere, But i thought it would be good to add to this.
Muscletopia = my nation. :D
-
That looks interesting, but I don't think I have time for *another* web game addiction :p
-
anyone remember clubby the seal?

If anyone still played it in numbers, i'd be playing tradewars BBS instead of KoL.

I play Ogame, Uni 20, is lots of fun, pure strategy (RTS) with houndreds of other players :)
-
... Wow. I suppose the bump won't hurt anybody.
I like Music Catch 2.
-
I used to play Ogame as well, left because of the huge time drain it meant. And because the universe was getting colder as well.
-
I forgot all about nationstates, cheers :yes;
