Title: Hamachi compatibility?
Post by: ME$$ENGER on July 26, 2006, 09:37:26 am
In case you didn't know, Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc/) is a tool that lets people on different private networks (ie: LAN) to connect. It has been proven to work with many games, as long as they support local network connection. It's also cross platform, although the Linux & OSX versions are pretty barebone. Since FS2 has IPX capability, it might be possible to host/join games using Hamachi. I'm just too lazy to go on a forum and ask people to join my game. :)

FS2_Open should already be hamachi compatible. What's your problem with it? I vaguely remember there being a problem with it thinking the VPN was a dial up conncetion. Is that what you're getting?

Actually, I have no problem with it (yet) since I haven't found a channel for FS2_Open.  :(

Just want to let people know about it so I can try it out.  ;)

is it just FS2 Open thats compatible with hamachi, what about standard retail FS2.

wondering about this since the latest build 3.6.9 has the non regenerating shields bug... and i dont really want to tell my friends to get new files.

That's what you should be using instead of 3.6.9 RC 5.
