Heyas fellas. Im looking for a spot of advice. Im trying to make an animation for someone's project, and a certain spot is giving me trouble. Im trying to use the warpmap ani in the animation, in a spot where two ships warp in.
I have the ani converted to avi. And it is loaded, fine. However, it doesn't display properly when renderring. It'll show for a moment, then blank out for several frames, show for a few more, blank out again, etc.
Is there a certain setting or way of encoding I should use for the avi file to have it work properly? I'd almost forgotten why I stopped working on this animation, but this problem reminds me every time.

are the framerates the same? could be that. if the animation is rendered at a different framerate than that warpmap, you'll get that. i think its common in a lot of 3D proggies.

I'm NOT an expert. ;)
Anyway, I'd suggest to use a MOV instead of an AVI. Somhow that works better for me. And the the nice Imagesequence-to-uncompressed-MOV is a very nice Qucktime feature, I use rather often.
Apply the 'bitmap' to the diffuse and the selfillumination slots.
It sounds like either your AVI is broken, or MAX doesn't like the format...
The frame rate shoudn't be an issue. It displays the last animation frame till the next comes, even you render it in between.

true. it shouldnt be a problem, but cinema4d acts up like that some times too. sometimes it works as supposed, sometimes not. depends on the codec perhaps?
wif what do you compress or do whatever to mov?
-
Firstly, thanks for the feedback.
I dont think I have any software to convert to mov. Does VirtualDub o it?
-
Hmmm.. I don't think VirtualDub can so that.
You do not have Quicktime? How do you watch MOVs and all this internet streaming stuff? The Real Player sure sucks...
-
I have quicktime. I wasnt aware that I can use it to encode to quicktime format, though. I thought it was strictly a viewer/decoder.
-
i can encode thru C4D to MOV, but i thought that that's it's internal mov encoder. awesome :D

8) Do it Right Get RenderMan
