Hi!
For any reason i can't download it from the hard-light server...
The download stops everytime after a few percent...
and the other download source is incredible slow...
-
Use a download manager?
-
hm, ok, i downloaded it now and also installed the patches, but i can't start it.
i only see this opening screen with this space station and nothing happens.
-
Which one, the title screen that says 'The Babylon Project" or the one afterwards which let's you create anew pilot ? (Both screens have the Babylon station as a background)
I suspect the former, in which case there might be a problem. What are your computer specs ?
-
yes, the first one.
i have:
Intel Pentium III 667 MHz
Win XP Professional
128 MB SD-RAM
GeForce 2 GTS
Soundblaster Audigy 4
hmm... yes its not the newest stuff ^^
but enough for freespace 2 i guess...
does the babylon project needs much more?
-
Well yes, the recommended specs are quite higher for the current release of TBP.
But ironically I got it running on a machine with the exact same amount of RAM and the exact same graphics card, so it should work _theoretically_ (although slow). So I'm not stll not sure why it hangs. Is there a error log text file in the "The Babylon Project" folder ? That may contain something useful.
Or try running it with the newest release candidate build from here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,41448.0.html (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,41448.0.html)

hm, still doesn't work, thanks anyway...
-
So, no error message ? It just freezes at the loading screen ?
Try freeing up as much RAM in WinXP as you can, shutdown as many background programs as possible.
-
Hmm... Try running the game in window mode (from FSOpen launcher... features tab -> dev tools -> run in window). Check if there are any popup windows coming up when game starts (like anti-virus software, firewalls etc.)
Then if that didnt help, try running the d-build (select it with the launcher once again).
-
No offence to the guy but he should maybe give up and buy a better machine. :nervous: If that's not financially viable I'd just suggest giving up and playing ... something else.
-
TBP R1 and R2 should run just fine, though I don't know if he already played those.
