There's no accounting for taste.  oo;  I think the top one is pretty classy, myself.

Those all look very nice to me, except the fingerprint looking thing on the bottom car.

hmm, maybe i just have this thing against boxes.

the top one, just looking at the front of it. it looks ugly, and it looks like an old person.  the next one is a honda toaster. it has corners.  the next one down is the PT cruiser, which was ugly when it first came out, and remained ugly.  and the last one is a box.  who the hell did they pay to design a box. wtf.

im sorry, but when i get a car, i'm looking for something that, even if it isnt designed for performance aerodynamics, at least has some good curves on it.

Top one I like, second one looks like a Japanese floor-show reject, the third one has been around for so long i've gotten used to it, and the fourth one is just... birds.

frankly i dont give a **** about what a car looks like, i dont care that because of aerodynamicengineering all cars ended up looking the same. so long as a car does its job, i dont care. i dont see why car companies are wasting their time coming out with new body designs, while the same chassis are being reused over and over again. id rather they spend the money refining engines, and coming up with ways to make the car cheaper to manufacture. i dont need 8 cylenders, im not even sure we need 4. make the body out of carbon fiber and the frame out of alluminum, do it cheaply. go for power to wheight ratio, dont try to hurl a couple tonnes of steel down asfault with a big honking motor. make sports cars self destruct when the driver thinks he doesnt want to stop for pedestrians. when designing passenger buses, dont forget to include seats, lots of them, and make it law that the cripples in wheelchairs should have to use the short bus. whats with rednecks and big trucks, unless theyre hauling lumber or whatever rednecks are supposed to haul, make em drive a bug. stop using gas. stop making cars with better entertainment systems that whats in our houses. and finally bring back the ****ing pinto!

The PTCruiser wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the fact someone had given it a fat lip.

....... make the body out of carbon fiber and the frame out of alluminum, do it cheaply........

Carbon fibre, Aluminium & Cheaply don't mix. Carbon fibre is too brittle for road cars, aluminium too costly to repair. Okay for super/niche cars but unlikely to make it into the mainstream anytime soon.

Glassfibre is more likely, but that comes with it's own problems. I'm considering replacing the front wings, bootlid & bonnett on my Manta with G/F to shed some weight, as it happens.

The only car there with any potential is the third one. I'm not a massive fan of "coffin" styling but it has more defined lines than any of  the others.

Unfortunately in the western world its become something of a trend for everyone to own SUVs or 4x4s or people carriers of some sort. 9/10 of these will never see off-road or be filled to any kind of capacity. They're mostly for school mums to do the shopping run in or to block the road up while they drop their kids off at school. And the styling is horrible.

As for the box-like examples above.. yes, they're horrible. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they handle poorly as well. The whole point is probably to give mum a higher vantage point so she can drive at anything smaller on the road and force them out of the way through sheer size alone.

Oh.. and Nuke?

Explain the above cars then? I don't see much aerodynamic styling at all...

As am I, not only for looks, and mileage but also performance. It can certainly shift.

Lets discuss this on a reasonable level though - what about practical every day cars? There's some real stunners and some real boners there: e.g. Ford. First they produce the Focus, one of the most revolutionary designs in mass-production cars (and then the Focus ST), and then they come out with the Ford Fusion. I like the Fusion from a practicality point of view, but from an aesthetic PoV its awful, especially comapred to said Focus ST.

Rover - they designed the Rover 75 way back in the early 90's before BMW even sniffed around their accounts, yet it took them that long to actually produce it. The Sterling was left to age ungracefully into the late 90s with a design that made gul-wing doors look fashionable.

Toyota - Avensis vs. Yaris. The '03 Avensis is an awesome competitor to the Ford Mondeo (which is class leader, imho) - and yet at the same time they produce stuff like the Yaris, which is as my mate would say "a bloody shoppng trolley".

Suzuki - The Suzuki Cappuccino was a Smart Roadster before a Smart Roadster was thought on; and it had the performance, and mileage to match. Then they bring out the Swift. Lovely wee car and all, but how does that compete with the Cappuccino? Poorly, one would say.

Fiat - The Grande Punto is nice, but why aren't they making things like Fiat Coupe anymore? I remember people calling that thing a baby ferrari and with good reason.

VW - Well, hell I can't really fault them. From the Lupo, to the Phaeton to the new Eos. They're just so good at what they do its silly.

On a more interesting note...
Kia and Hyundai are really moving forwards with their designs - the Hyundai Atlantic Accent looks damned nice. (They showcased it at the British Motor Show). The Kia Cee De (http://www.conceptcarz.com/view/photo/103443,11065,0,0/photo.aspx) is going to really kick the Golf's ass in terms of value for money for a hot-hatch. It won't dominate the market, but its bound to be a huge seller with younger buyers. Badge snobbery is being ignored more and more as buyers demand extra kit for they cash.

Also, the new BMW M6 is awesome. Its got everything - sports performance, good looks, convertible roof and enough room for four or five adults.

Best looking cars = muscle cars:

But yea, most new cars look like boxes/ass ugly/all look the same. Let's post some pictures of those f'in jelly bean cars. They all look the same and they piss me off every time they advertise the "new model" that looks the same as not only the last 20 models, but the last 20 models of every other car released in the last few years.

I'd support you, but the beauty of this Range Rover Sport just won't let me: http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Vehicles/New_Range_Rover/Gallery/Range_Rover_gallery.htm

As for that Grand Cherokee, you could run that on LPG quite nicely. Shame it doesn't come factory fitted.

BMW pwns

Hmm... they make great cars to be sure, but there's something incredibly... mundane about the styling. Perhaps it's that almost all BMWs look alike. It just doesn't interest me.

That said, for interior comfort, they're great.

Not all BMW are the same ie

I quite liked the PT cruiseer when it came out, I like the retro styling and the hint of hot rod!

I think the Z4 is a marked improvement on the Z3 as every grey/metallic silver Z3 I've seen just didn't look like it had been finished painted. I dunno, something about the shade made me think It had bee primed and that's all. And the curves on the Z4 are much shapelier (is that a word?) like the lift bit on the boot, just rounded it off nicely. My next door neighbour owns one (Z4) and he's a computer part/component salesman/trader (Computer fairs), so no drug dealer's here! Granted his missus bought him the car and she WAS a lap dancer!

ATX cases full of coke, YOU KNOW IT HAPPENS !!

All BMW drivers arent bad, but all ford escort fdirvers are (the boy racers who whack an aerofoil/spoiler/bodykit etc) and spend all night and all saturday morning doing wheelspins round my estate.
