Interesting, how did you do the corona?
------------------
I told you that It ("http://www.jskgames.homestead.com/files/home.html") would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...
-
Figuring that out now (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
The sun's a max model I got off 3dcafe. Figured it HAD to beat the old "lens flare" method,..but unlike the planetary models I've looked at that use a seperate sphere model for the atmosphere effect,..this sun is a single sphere using to volume lights for the corona and all.
But makes a close up MUUUUUUUUUUUCH better than a flare (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
A bit dim, for a sun, isn't it?
-
Yea but I figured a solid bright yellow image would just be in bad taste (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
But seriously,..I'm still messing around with it. Notice it's got a tuch of green...still working on removing that.
-
That has to be one thoroughly hot world.

Hey we lowly terrans take our vacations in the tropics,..Vasudens on the other hand were kinna looking at Venus (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
Whoa, high coolness factor... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Very nice, in particular your engine glows have come a long way, well done (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
I had a similar model for 3dsmax 2. It was a very good one, but I can't find it.
-
Looks like the D3 sun. Except yellow.
-
and D3 is.............??
Sides in theory wouldn't all suns look alike expect for color ? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Big..round...flaming,..gives off light (in varying amounts)

D3 = Descent3 ya goof! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
btw, that sun was done via volume fog and a few noise filters. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

LOL Well being I never liked Decent that'd be why I didn't catch it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
Actually it's just a colored sphere with to Volume lights (Gas and halo) and two targetted spot lights.
Spent a little more time today dismanteling it and checking it out (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) Learned a few new tricks to.
-
The whole image looks a little bit..washed out, to me. Dunno what's about it, but it doesn't seem as..sharp..as other renders.
-
Now that you mention it, it does look a little blurry... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/redface.gif)
