some people went out and made this
-
Sweet...now aliens are using Firefox too :)
-
awesome :D
-
Crap. If the aliens are moving away from MS software, that's one less weapon in our arsenal when they come to invade us :nervous:
-
Nice :D
-
That would have required a LOT of planning to get it looking that good at that size :eek2:
I'm looking forward to when they start breeding real firefoxes (http://thefatwebsite.rabidcarrot.com/the_real_firefox.jpg).

Crap. If the aliens are moving away from MS software, that's one less weapon in our arsenal when they come to invade us :nervous:
Or one less reason for them to get angry enough to invade us in the first place :)
-
I am enjoying it, but i detect the faint odor of Photoshop possibly...........
-
Hahahah, brilliant, I know Firefox fanatics are .. fanatic, but would they really go this far?
I also smell Photoshop.
-
They probably would go this far. OSU is an amazingly boring place to be. There's a very small town next to it and then just farmland.
And yes, I did used to go there and its ****ty location was one of the reasons I left. Too much of a city guy.......
-
Electricity and concrete, home coforts ;)
God i love it...........
-
Most of the time the electricity worked, but sometimes it wouldn't. I remember several major power outages my first year there.......
-
Try looking at the gallery (http://lug.oregonstate.edu/gallery/firefox-crop-circle) the pic is part of - The whole making of the thing is documented in pictures. It's quite real :)
-
I WANT a Firefox pancake!
-
I dunno, i'm not disputing its possible, I just think this is a tyical studenty prank to pull.
They may have done it but i;m in a state of indecision..... :)
edited for great justice
-
I am enjoying it, but i detect the faint odor of Photoshop possibly...........
nope.. it's legit.. well as legit as crop circles get (IE people went out and made it)
-
Disputing if it's possible?
Seriously. You have a group of smart, dedicated, slightly boozed-up nerds with access to considerable resources. Is there anything they can't do? Boozed-up nerdiness, frankly, is seriously underrated; it is actually a superpower rivaling anything your standard comic superhero can muster.
-
Crap i meant to say i'm NOT,
I'll edit for great justice.

*Imagining the climactic 'blow up whitehouse' scene of Independence Day failing due to a BSOD*

don't mess with the BSOD*

Like I said, OSU is a boring place to go.

Words cannot describe the awesomeness of that shirt.

:wakka:
^ only thing you really can say :D
-
Except that the buttons were obviously Photoshopped on. :p

Man, it's not even a fox. :p

I'll take that BSOD any day :)

So the Independence Day aliens were using MS? :p
-
How else do you think they were able to upload a virus so easily? The aliens were running windows, and using a non password-protected wireless LAN no less, making it even easier. They really were asking for it if you ask me :D

The Firefox team here at OSU is pretty known for stuff like this. When they had 50 million downloads of their browser, they drew in chalk a giant version of the Firefox logo in the Memorial Union Quad here at OSU. Then, at 100 million downloads, they launched (with the help of Oregon Space Grant, my employer) a high-altitude weather balloon with a giant Firefox poster and camera attached. I helped design and launch that payload. We never recovered it, however. I imagine it was torn apart by the jet stream. The crop circle is the latest Firefox stunt I've seen/heard of.
You can see their weather balloon stunt here:

Okay, well enough shameless plugs of my life! :p
-
These guys have way too much freetime.
-
Good. If they didn't you'd be typing that on IE :p
-
wow thats sick!
I just had to save that picture...
-
I dont know what's more offensive. Nerds making cropcircles, or nerds making cropcircles about firefox. If they wanted to do it right, it should have been opera, not some piece of overhyped ****.
-
I'm not sure you understand though. These aren't just random nerds who use Firefox. Oregon State is home to the open source lab that writes it. It wouldn't make sense if they made an Opera crop circle when they're writing/supporting/etc-ing Firefox and the lab that works on it.
-
I prefer using IE all together. I ahd firefox but its too hard to totally integrate. and It always botherd me when I couldnt get certain sites to work. After that I jsut left it. I uninstalled it a few days ago.
-
That is so my background!
Nobody may understand it, but it's still cool!
-
UMMM???
What's a crop cricle when it's at home?
Surprised none of you guys noticed???
-
:jaw: I never noticed, I thought a forum Elder would have zeroed in on it immediately........
