Title: Beam textures?
Post by: Disgustipated on August 20, 2006, 12:08:27 am
Hello all, I've been playing FS2 and after seeing some of the beam pictures in people's screenshots, I realize mine look like crap. They're basically alternating beams that don't look nearly as good. Does anyone have a beam textures' pack out, as I'd like to try different ones to see which I like best. I see this somewhere here before but I cannt find the topic again. Sorry if this is a repeat topic.

Don't use the animated beams in mv_adveffects for a start and your beams will look better.

How do you turn 'em off then? Without removing mv_adveffects that is?

You can also go here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,38935.0.html) and get DaBrain's "More sane version of the animated beamglows". Since they go into the dat\effects folder in the mediavps dir, they'll over-ride the vp ones.

you can take stuff out of the vps. just open the vp with a vp editor and take out all the files that have to do with the beams, the filenames should be explanatory, there are not alot of things in that vp.
