Why can the myrmidon a space superiority fighter equip the helios :wtf:

It's an easter egg AFAIK... you never get to use the Myrmidon and Helios missiles together in FS2 main campaign.

I think i did once :p it was'nt the default weapons obviously

actually you can get any ship to carry any weap you want, just put yourself in beta wing and choose any weap even shivan weaps is usable

Helios are for elite bomber pilots,who never fly a Myrmidon :)
It's not an esater egg efter all.The odd design of the Myrmidon allows it to carry the Helios(but not the Cyclops:why?).

actually you can get any ship to carry any weap you want, just put yourself in beta wing and choose any weap even shivan weaps is usable
Or you could just add a few entries to the "Allowed SBanks" tab in the table. More permanent. ;)
I don't like using Helios in a Myrmidon.... only get two, and that's not enough to really do anything....

I tend to believe it's either that or an Easter egg. You can't use it in the main campaign anyway. Not certain if any of the multiplayer missions let you get away with it though.

thats pretty good for one bank considering in fs1 you could only get two harbingers into a bank.

Well... Myrmidon can carry dogfight Harpoons so...

The dogfight weapons could easily have been added at a different time from the standard weapons though. FS1 didn't use dogfight weapons after all. They were obviously added by :v: to balance FS2 multiplayer.
So whether they were both entered at the same time depends entirely on whether the Myrmidon was added to the table in one session or whether it was added, dogfight weapons were added to the code and then the entry revised.
Short of asking :v: I don't how you'd determine the order.

The weapons were cloned from campaign to multiplayer. This was done to balance out the combat, so a lighter craft, like the Loki has a better chance of taking out a heavier craft, like a Ursa.
It was probably a mistake on :V: 's part... I think the Myrmidon should be able to carry Harpoons but not Helios.

I know why they did it. What I was saying is that there was no way to know when they did it so the fact that the dogfight weapons are correct doesn't really mean very much at all.

Of course, considering the amount of testing that was done, assuming it was a mistake is pretty silly...it could have been patched if it was. It was not.

No amount of testing of the campaign would ever have revealed that if it was a mistake though. The situation where it's noticable simply doesn't come up.

type www.freespace2.com while in a mission, then press ~ and w together, exit the mission, then play any mission (single or multi) you want. you've unlimited missiles. you must exit the mission and restart if your playing campaign mod
