Hey guys, love FSP and everything has ended up working wonderful, the sounds are amazing and the briefing voice works just fine. However I noticed when litsening to the flight instructor and on my first mission when the pilots try to talk with me that the voices will sound off the first letter and then stop. Is there a file thats corrupted or an option I need to turn on/off to make these character voices work?
Thanks for any help you can give

If you're using FS2_Open make sure you have OpenAL (http://developer.creative.com/articles/article.asp?cat=1&sbcat=31&top=38&aid=46) installed.
-
I have that installed and have tried all the sounccard modes, with it installed I've hear one or two people speak completely but a majority of the pilots won't finish their sentences. It gets kinda hard to know whats happening when I have to read the lines of text flying up at the top :(

You don't happen to have the HOTU version of Freespace do you? My cousin reported something similiar to this when he used that.
-
Really? I can't think of any possible reason for that to happen. Unless he has the original 200MB version.

It's probably that OpenAL sound bug in some form. The very latest 8/20 CVS build should have this fixed, although I haven't tried it out yet.

Its really kinda odd, I did use to have the demo of FS2 on this computer, would that cause this voice error. If so, would the best option be to uninstall the pack and reinstall it again? Im open up to testing different solutions at the moment, id rather have the voices work :D
Downloading the newest openAL seemed to fix one or two cases of the voice break ups, I might hear someone complete their sentence and then the next 20 would be errors.

Alright, reinstalling the game and that sound program seemed to do the trick. I also got rid of the FreeSpace Demo version. Thankyou all of you for brining in the suggestions and help.
