Post by: Dishwasher on August 26, 2006, 11:25:14 am
HI all I was just about to install Freespace 2 again when I realized I have a widescreen LCD monitor these days... any possibility of enabeling widescreen resolutions for FS2?

When you are using a scp build you can select different solutions in the launcher checking "allow non standart modes" under video. I think their where some widescreen resolutions under opengl.

Yeah... they'll 'work', but they'll look weird.  There's some issue with the FOV where, among other things, as they get farther from the center of the screen, targeting brackets get shown at a different place than where the models are rendered.  And the sun likes to 'wander'.

I think the code involved is eldritch and horrible, so it's on the known issue list, but afaik it's not on anyone's want-to-do list :P

Most likely because widescreen isn't that common..at least not now.
