dont panic... we will be back

something has gone awry between me and my webhost. it started friday, but since their business hours are mon-fri, I havent been able to make any progress with them this weekend. I have just had to live with it. Hopefully we will be back monday/tuesdayish, no guarantees though.

Believe me, I am damn tired of these webhost issues too.  Consider it the official announcement: This is the last straw. I will be moving GW to a dedicated server ASAP after we get things back up. I have enough $$$ right now to pay for 3-4 months worth of dedicated colocation, but keep in mind we will need to raise some money to help me out in the near future.

Maybe HLP or Sectorgame would want to go into this jointly? Just a thought. The server I have is pleanty powerful and it will be on a unlimited simultaneous bandwidth connection (With a 1000gb/mo cap.)

Both HLP and GW admins are intending to come into an agreement to share a dedicated server because we both will have to rely on donations. If you want to donate, you can either donate to HLP or GW and in the end it should help both. It is possible that this joint-project won't succeed, but it is in our best interests to make it happen.

does that mean the sites are merging, or will each continue to maintain its own forums and home pages ect?

Yeah...a big fusion,I know it... and I hope it will succeed...

It only means that HLP and GW will share the same server and costs associated with it if the project succeeds. Both will stay as seperate communities.

Good. I was a bit worried we'd have something like "hard game light warden productions".

DNS problems of some sort. The site is accessible via it's IP address (http://64.92.160.250/).

Interestingly a whois search stlll points back to dreamhost even though that is where Game-Warden used to be hosted.

thanks :D
someone should change the link
Title: Re: game warden?

Well hopefully it's only temporary.

The reason you always link via names rather than IP address is cause IP adress changes much more often. If we update the link it will go wrong very quickly.

I've been reading a few posts on my other forums about what's happening with the mod.  A rather large community depression is starting to build about the collapse of the mod.  I'm not convinced work has stopped, but many people have already relegated it to vaporware.  I think some kind of announcement needs to be posted somewhere.

Also I am sure that must be people willing to help out with the server issues.

Which mod?
Title: Re: game warden?
Post by: karajorma on September 18, 2006, 09:27:25 am
Whenever someone talks about the mod on Game-Warden it's almost certain they mean BSG. No one else seems to think that their is only one mod on GW :p

That said we're definitely not vapourware. We've even made progress since the board has been down. It's been slower than when it is up of course but stuff is going on.
