Title: Fighter models, solid or multi-piece?
Post by: bizzybody on August 28, 2006, 02:34:37 am
What's the typical style of model for FS2 fighters? Having the mesh one solid model or having more than one part 'glued' together. (Obviously moving turrets on cap ships have to be seperate pieces.)

Me, personally, I uses a few pieces.  Makes it easier to track down bugs when converting.  Course it all depends on the shape.

Muti-piece. In hte end you end up with less polies and can map it better :D

I used to make all my models multipiece, but it was too frustrating to attach them all at the end.

back in the day you would have been slowly boiled alive for even consitering the use of multable objects, but nowadays, it isn't that big of a deail and in fact  you sort of have to for certan types of effects (glass/cockpits,detail boxes).
