A single mission that duplicates the climactic battle from the movie "The Last Starfighter" would kick so much ass. :) I wonder if anyone's ever modeled any of those ships, or managed to lay hands on the original 3D datafiles.
*sigh* Yet another decent SciFi movie that fell victim to idiotic and insufficient marketing. Nevermind that it was the first movie to have fully CG scenes and CG mixed with live actors. (The first movie ever to use real computer graphics as a special effect was "Westworld" for the Gunfighter robot's POV shots.)
-
Someone made the last starfighter years ago, but AFAIK it was never released.
-
I was in talks with a modler about it like 3 months ago... It's very likely if they ever finish it I will get permission to port it to FS2, but it will be about 10,000-15,000 polys (rough estimate at the time)...

The car was cool, But the kid brother needs a smack in the mouth.
The Black Hole by disney used CGI before Tron.............
-
What's CGI in The Black Hole ? I can't remember anything offhand.
-
The actual Blackhole itself :D in teh opening sequence

Wait, was that the movie where they fly through a ****ing black hole and wind up somewhere else? There are so many reasons why that's just plain retarded.
-
I liked the badguy robot in it........ I forget hi s name.
It was disney so i allowed some room for stupidity..........

The bad*ss flying bot was Maximillian. There used to be a website by the man who was the chief modelbuilder for The Black Hole. The main Cygnus model was something like 12 feet long and so super detailed some shots done with the motion controlled camera had the lens as close as 1/8 inch.
A very expensive shot had to be done twice. That was the (rather dumb) scene where the glowing meteor is smashing along the main corridor of the Cygnus. That model section cost $100,000 to build. The studio executives showed up to see the most expensive shot of the whole movie being filmed and the meteor came off its tracks and destroyed the setup. (It was supposed to trash the interior, in a controlled manner.) The whole thing had to be rebuilt and the shot done again.
The one thing I always liked about that movie were the laser pistols with the two beams, one where it'd normally be and the other attached to the bottom of the grip. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/Other/js_pre_sentry.htm

 Twice... Man that sucks. I haven't seen TLS in years so I guess seeing it again would be in order.

I always loved the scene in Black Hole with the shooting competition between V.I.N.C.E.N.T and Maximillian. (There were two Robots, Vincent and Bob, it may have been their first ever A-Cert (15) film, but it was still Disney).
-
It was between V.I.N.C.E.N.T. and S.T.A.R. Hmmm, there never was any mention of what the 'bots ancronymical names stood for. ;) There was some awful foley in The Black Hole on some of the scenes of security robots marching, with the footfall sounds playing as their feet lifted off the floor.
Hmmm, the Cygnus would look cool in FS2. Fit it with a ton of turrets, and a crapload of debris for all the glass!
-
Possibly, I tried to convert a .mod of the Cygnus once. It crashed Milkshake so I never could convert it over to FS2. (Atra-Hasis made it).
-
Right, we need a starfighter and the Cygnus.......... Plus some flying stompey robots from Tron for good measure....
-
Why don't you simply convert some DESCENT robots then? Blocky Tron Recognizers are so primitive these days...
Now for people who CAN'T wait... You can use this model as a REFERENCE ONLY as it is a Hw1 model I converted for my own personal use and not for public release...
Cool I still have the pic.

VINCENT definately stood for something, and I used to know it, but now it escapes me. Hmm.
EDIT; Vital Information Necessary Centralized (V.I.N.cent), apparently. Name first, meaning second, methinks :D
