:PHi, I just wonder if there is any main HLP IRC channel. There are many of them {fs2source, lobby20, nodewar, hardlight...} but there are 1 or 2 people online on every channel. I think we should have one major fs community IRC than spreading to 666 channels, most communities when they grow big enough have one. So everybody, join server: irc.maxgaming.net channel: #fs2source . There are always only 2-3 people so we have to propagate it. And I forgot channel #Lobby_20 on same server for multiplayer. Or we can add IRC client to the main HLP site like http://scp.indiegames.us/e107_plugins/irc/irc.php on the SCP site.

Theres no one there...

I would suggest multiplayer IRC in FS2 itself, but that would be alot of work wouldn't it?
-
Okay I'll go there regularly then... Hope I won't be near alone :)
-
There was a very good chat system in Fs2, my squad would often cry out "To the batcave" at which point we would rally in a private channel to discuss assignments and tactics,,
-
Well, IRC could be pretty good, but only if there are enough ppl using it, and the timezone diff isn't too much to divide the community :)
I could throw up an IRC Applet somewhere on the net which you could use from the browser, and would be as powerful as any IRC client btw...
-
Rather than discuss about tactics,it would be useful to give help to members with technical problems.Snail and Woomeister would find it perfect, considering that the Infenro board has turned into a chatroom.
-
Indeed... Why aren't you on then? :)
-
Snail came here after me and is more than 100 posts up.
-
I really think that HLP should get one....
That's just my opinion though.

There's no point setting up our own IRC server now or in the future because the official HLP-channel would naturally be the place where people end up to when there's downtime. If the whole server is down and not just the forums, the IRC server would also be down and thus negating half of it's purpose. To make this as convenient as possible, all freespace related channels should be located on same irc-server or ircnet.
There's a good reason to keep channels like fs2source, nodewars, etc seperate. For example, the SCP people would not exactly love it if random discussion is taking place on their channel when they have a meeting. If there's already a channel called #hardlight somewhere, just promote its existence and people will eventually appear if they want to use irc in the first place.
-
Well... On fs2source, currently there's a bot and only very few of us. Haven't seen anyone belonging to the SCP team yet, eighter I think... But really, if SCP ppl did really go to that chan, I hardly doubt they'd need to suffer bcuz of "random discussion" :) However it's fully okay with me to go to any chan ^^

Things are going well. Now there are always about 4-5 people. Keep joining. :D
