I got it delivered last Monday. Not sure if Pegasus is the promised 90 mins episode, though. I hope it is....
-
Cool!
I think its real, I dont think play.com deals with bootlegs.
At least Season 2 has some special features, but I bet when the US version comes out it will have tons more like bloody usual.

IIRC, they turned Pegasus into multiple episodes, which is why nobody ever saw a 90 minute version. Is that what you're talking about?
-
No, there's a 90-minute version of Pegasus going around on the full set, apparently. Sounds mighty-interesting, as I didn't think one could possibly improve on the awesomeness of that ep.

Nope. IIRc it was to be stretched out to a 2 parter or something, but too much was filler, so they cut a lot of stuff or shoved it into the next 2 to stretch them out. Or something.
Anyways; ****itude; http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=4712
Fans of Battlestar Galactica were excited when Ron Moore talked about an extended episode of "Pegasus," the half-season finale, during his PodCast for the show. Moore said that the extended episode would be released on DVD, and it was assumed that it would be on the 2.0 set. Reviewers, and some fans, have already obtained the 2.0 set (which streets on Tuesday, 12/20), but the extended episode wasn't included. Message boards are filled with fuming fans, but we have good news that should extinguish the flames.
I spoke with a contact at Universal yesterday and asked about the extended episode. I was told that they couldn't ready the episode in time for the set, but it would be the first episode in the next set (the second half of season 2). This sounds like a great idea since fans will own both versions of the episode, unlike the SG-1 extended episode issue. MGM released the shorter cut of "Threads" in the season 8 set, and fans wishing to obtain the longer version must send in their current disc, or a proof of purchase for the set. It's more complicated than Universal's solution.
(good idea buying the same half of a series twice? my arse)

I think they're saying that DVD 1 will have episodes 1-10 and DVD 2 will have episodes 10-20.
So you get Pegasus twice. In both extended and normal versions.

I got the full season R2 DVD set many months ago, maybe about 4 months ago.

You're the Sheridan, y
ou ARE season 2 boxset................unless........................you, . . . . lied to us?

So is Pegasus 90 mins?
-
Now that I am back home and could check my shelves, I have to confess that the BSG S2 DVD box I thought I had bought must have been some another box set of another series. Funny mind trick.
-
So what's the clear story on this, is there a COMPLETE Season 2 boxset in the US, or are we Americans stuck with having to buy Season 2.0 and 2.5?

At least you probably get more extras. And UK Dvds are usually a lot more expensive than US ones anyway.
-
I've got the UK boxset, it features a 60-minute Pegasus. I don't think there was ever a 90-minute one? I know the season finale is 90 minutes. It has a fair few extras, so it's not all bad.
-
On the commentary podcast they talked about puting a 90 minute version of Pegasus on the DVD.
-
When are they coming out with the full S2 HD-DVD set?

I checked http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Pegasus_%28Extended_Version%29 and apparently it was a 75 minute version (which I presume includes the ad breaks?); they wanted a 90 min version but couldn't scrape together enough for it, so instead cut it back to the aired episode.
There's definately some previously deleted stuff which turns up in the DVD episode (which I just watched, although it's not 75 mins but about 50-ish, offhand), particularly in that the rape scene is now switched to where the rape has begun rather than just before (and is really unnerving and disturbing to watch).
-
Did that stuff ever air (possibly overseas)? I remember reading that someone couldn't even watch that scene, because of a past rape incident. I got the impression that they saw more than I did, although that may have just been because of their experience, not due to any difference in the episodes...

Don't think so. It has been a while, but I don't remember it having, to be blunt, Thornes pants down (NB: not that you see anything, it's mostly flash cuts and screaming) in particular. It's pretty shocking and, frankly, it has to be; any sort of depiction of rape needs to be as horrific and revolting as the real thing is to be effective.

I got mine! :D The epsidoes I've seen have been fantastic so far. Really intense dramatic stuff. I'm very impressed with the writing.

How far are you into it? I reckon it peaks in the middle, drops a bit in a couple of the latter eps, then ramps back up at the end.

I'm watching Pegasus tonight. Having seen the original series I know what Pegasus is of course. It'll be fun to see how the new series handles it. Especially since this is about the point in the series that the Colonial Fleets forums dumped the new series in disgust.

I watched Pegasus last night; for me, it and the next 2-3 episodes are some of the best and downright grittiest TV I've ever seen.

The music is damn cool too. Pegasus and Prelude to War are probably the best two tracks on the Season 2 soundtrack and they both appear in that episode :)
