I've just listened to some freespace music tracks now, and I've began to wonder how others feel about music in FreeSpace...
Personally FreeSpace 1's credits track almost makes me cry :').
Of in-battle music tracks, my favourite is the track labeled "F" of FS2 (FS2_Btl_F01-2-3.wav in warble_fs2.vp)
What about you ppl?
-
I like the ending movie's music most.
-
cinema2.wav (FS2)
Loooooove that soundtrack! Especially as it's used in Derelict as a briefing. The music is timed perfectly to the briefing, and ties in with the atmosphere extremely well.
I wish I could figure out how to undo that stupid encoding :v: put on the music files.... then I could burn a CD and listen in the car....
-
I've always had a thing for Deuteronomy from FS2 and Strike from FS1. Monolith was pretty good too.
-
FS2 credits, FS2 Briefing song #4.
:D
-
If that's the music for the briefing of "Slaying Ravana", then that one is my favorite, too. :)
I also like Joshua II.
Edit: Oh, in FS(1). In that case, uh, I'll need to play through those missions/briefings/cutscenes again.
-
FS1's... uh... what was it... in the Demo... was it Fortress? Anyway, wish there was a better quality version of it, the base tune was good, just sounds like **** with the horrible quality.
-
What are the designations for Joshua, Revalation and soforth in the .vp's? For that matter, what are the designations for Fortress and soforth in the FS1 .vp's?
-
Joshua is FS2_Btl_G01 through '03. Numbers is FS2_Btl_D01 through '03, and Revelation is FS2_Btl_EO1 through '03. The others I don't know.
There is also a higher-definition and slightly extended set of those three floating around. (I found out which they were by comparing the VP tracks to the higher-definition ones. :p)
My favorite from FS1 must remain the Galatea mainhall music. FS2 the Ending Score, with honorable mentions to the Numbers and Revelation combat tracks.
And for mods? Silly question. Hidden's combat track with honorable mention to 2RBat and 2RVict (or the higher-definition versions someone donated), all from Inferno.

Strange, I burnt them straight to CD with Nero (CD-Music) and it works fine in my car stereo? (Sony job). Some of the tracks are great for motorway cruising :pimp:

That's Cinema. I like that one a lot but there are tunes I like more.
Brief 04 is probably my favourite tune from the game. It just sums up the whole "We are in so much ****" sentiment so well. From the second the tune starts up and you hear Admiral Petrarch start explaining that the Shivans are back you know that things have just taken a turn for the worse.
The tune from the supernova cutscene is another favourite.
For in game music it has to be Joshua.
-
Monolith was really good. The FS2Cinema music was good too, and the last briefing music was okay too.
-
Thanks for saying FS2 Briefing 4, I love that one too :D Briefing 5 is a pretty good one too, "saying" that now you gotta do something really good! :D
About those enhanced tracks orwhat, could you upload them somewhere? I'd like to get them :)
-
Grab mv_music.vp. They're in there.
-
How about every music track?
Cinema
Ending Score
Exodus III
Galatea
Leviticus III
Hidden
Definitive
Briefing I,II,V
Deuteronomy
Joshua
I hated,then loved,then hated another time Numbers
I'm waiting for INF Alliance to listen some FS1 music tracks.
-
With FS2's Brief04, I can already daydream a scene where I'm in the briefing room (with some other people), staring at a table-top holographic projector while my friend (playing the commander ) explains his plans for the upcoming mission. The room is kinda dark, in black and red. I think the projector's gridlines are also red (instead of FS2's green). :doubt:
Small strike team involving 2 fighter wings and a destroyer, versus an entire armada of ships from a machine race...
Listening to it at the time of typing...
-
hahaha, what stuff are you on, asyikarea? I want some it! :D
-
March and Monolith for me. :D
they're all easily the best battle tracks in the game.

I won't get jumped on for posting links will I?
-
For posting links you get the **** intruder. A mechanically developed peice of technology meant for intruding powered by gasoline  (idk if you watched eurotrip or not).
My favorite track was the one that's played when the iceni runs the blockade to the knossos. The music on that mission is just really kickass.
-
FS1 Monolith I'm listening to it now. Even posted this in the what are you listening to thread.
-

Nothing, actually.

Why you don't add some links for FS1 music too?
I moved most music files from FS2 to my music folder, and I want FS1 ones.
;)
-
Why not crack open the fs1 port vp file, they're in there?
-
Out of the FS1's, I choose the Bttl-10 sequences. The ones that play during the Hades mission in Silent Threat. Those were great music.... if only the mission they went with was good... :sigh:
-
I haven't played Silent Threat :'(
Couldn't get it :(
-
It's in the FS1Port.
-
Well, it's okay to that point, but I was going on about not playing Silent Threat :)
-
My favourite Music track from FS1 is the egyptish sounding one, Cant remember the name. FS2 track = one used beyond te 2nd knossos in loop 2............
If that clarifies......... :D
