McD's redesigning their McFlurry containers so that Hedgehogs can't get their heads trapped in them....
It's actually about time too, those containers have literally killed thousands of hedgehogs, and it's not a quick death either, they get their heads jammed and starve to death.
-
I can just picture it now; a team of hundreds of scientists working for over 5 years taking exact measurements of millions of hedgehogs, consumer testing on the local hedgehog population, and watching computer simluation after computer simulation of hedgehogs flailing their legs frantically trying to escape the sugary prison. The future is now!

 You leave our hedgehogs alone :p
I remember when the Monster Raving Loony party had an election campaign that involved moving all the traffic signal buttons to 1ft off the ground to help reduce the number of Hedgehogs run over by cars. It was the same year their leader Screaming Lord Sutch set light to a curtain while giving a speech and burned down a town hall :D Great days in British politics :)

Hedgehogs are awesome and they eat anything.
-
My older sister had a phase where she bred African Pigmy Hedghogs... I have bad memories of hedgehogs
-
Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who thought of Sonic...
-
screw dem hedgehogs, we gotz dem porcupinez here. dem 'pinez are cool! much better den doez 'hawgs!
:D
-
Everything I learned about crossing the road, I learned from Hedgehogs.
-
That hedgehog ad with the godawful singing(the old guy was much better)?
-
I like hedgehogs...I think they're cute... :nervous:

I thought of Sonic too. You're not the only one.
I had to take care of a hedgehog for the local zoo once. He was named Sonic...No joke.

Isn't this backwards? :wtf: They should be going after the people who litter these lids everywhere. When there was the whole big stink over soda can connecters trapping turtles in the ocean, they didn't go after the soda companies. It shouldn't be McDonalds's responsibility.

Why is it backwards? It's no more or less backwards in building airbags into cars 'when they should be going after the people who crash cars'.

The difference is that it's quite possible for accidents to be accidental, whereas littering is deliberate.

Not always. Say a bin gets knocked over, for example. That's littering, but also accidental. Or say your 5 year old chucks his McFlurry carton out the car window without you realising until too late. That sort of thing. This is simply the best and most effective way of removing the harm caused; that doesn't mean it's condoning littering or owt, but it is the way that works best. I'm not sure picking the best and most complete solution is backwards......
-
Things is, the number of Public waste bins has reduced massively recently, as part of anti-terror measures (One of the IRA's favourite tricks was to drop small explosive devices in litter bins), so, at least in the capital, there are actually amost no litter bins around, which is why litter is such a large problem for London boroughs :(
-
maybe the hippies who are complaining should go out ant pick up mcflurry containers that have been littered. changing the design of the container for the binifit of headgehogs is ok, but it will be a perfect fir for some other little critter. the new hedgehog friendly container may end up being a squirrel trap, which is unfair to the squirels. then the new squirrel friendly containers will trap pidgeons, will it ever end? i call this a lesson in futility.
-
true Nuke, true.
therefore, the ultimate solution is to get rid of McFlurrys altogether.
that would benefit not only hedgehogs, but humans that consume Flurrys too...

Ahh, the memories... :)

or just put a flat lid on it and let the people take it off
-
i have a better idea, lets get rid of the hedgehogs :D
-
Can't do that. They're fuzzy.
-
i thought they were prickely
-
They can be both. They're talented.
-
damn, i want one.
my cats would love it :D

Having owned a pet hedgehog, I know from experience that they will try to get into anything, making lids/container openings smaller won't really help and cold potentially make the problem worse.
On a sadder note, this weekend marks the one year anniversary of my hedgehogs death...I miss it.
