Title: The Grand Old Euro'08 Qualification Thread.
Post by: Rictor on September 02, 2006, 03:33:58 pm
All the usual suspects, England, France, Germany, won their first games. No surprise. Serbia squeaked through against Azerbaijan. I really hope firing our dumbass coach will do the team some good: our **** performance at the WC is in large part his doing.

But oh, wouldn't it be glorious to see Italy tie or lose to Lithuania.  Ten minutes left in regular time.

Scotland had a pretty impressive game too iirc, something like 5-0 or 6-0?

Group F prediction: Denmark will beat Spain, lose to Iceland, Liechtenstein and N. Ireland, while drawing Latvia 0-0 in the most boring game ever and Sweden 2-2 to crash out in the qualifiers, as we always do. Spain and Sweden will advance.

It's too early to say, but could Italy pull a Greece and start sucking immediately after a big victory? We'll see.

Greece sucked for years before that victory though.

I swear to ****ing God, the first person to say England 'might actually have a chance this time round' gets ****ing Splinter-Cell'd in the neck....

England always has a chance. We're just amazingly good at pissing it away with lackluster performances.

That's the problem with having 4 footballers and about 12 Drama Queens on the team...

They're all just a bunch of whiney little pussies.

It's because of the way they're treated in England. You show a tiny bit of talent and suddenly you've got every newspaper in the land saying you're the best thing since George Best.

So they develop an 'I'm the king' mentality - which is ****ing useless for a team player.

Half the supposedly 'world class' players in the Premiership are only any good because of the support of their team.

Then they get dumped in with 10 other ****ing idiots, and they all expect to be the center of attention - or worse, they actively try to be the center of attention by glory-chasing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The only decent England players are the Liverpool players. They're entirely concerned with winning at any cost, regardless of their own egos.

 at San Marino, and congrats Germany on setting a record for most goals ever in a euro qualifying game. Somehow I think we can count SM out even at this early point :p

Anyone see the N. Ireland match? I wish I could have... either way, great work there by beating Spain, not to mention thanks for taking points from one of Denmark's worst rivals for advancement. Very impressive, and great comeback after the Iceland loss. Which, to my great surprise, we actually managed to avenge for you with a 2-nil win in Reykjavik, not really a pretty game (cluster**** would adequately describe the 2nd half), but hey, 3 points is 3 points :)

Somehow I'm not too enthusiastic about Serbia's chances. If we tied Poland, imagine how we'll do against Portugal (even Figo-less Portugal).

Good game to Germany, poor San Marino got *****-slapped. Also, sweet revenge by Les Bleus against...the other blues. Doesn't make up for a WC final, but still it's something.
