And, in the coming years the PS3 and Wii...
How many games released for the 360 have been patched post-release purely to fix bugs?
-
hrm....
not counting the backwards compatability things?...
call of duty 2 as far as i know, just to fix some XBL lag issues.
and a few patches for the interface itself.
-
Thats all i can think of, Battlefield 2 didnt have any big probs did it? :o
-
Oblivion had a patch a while ago, fixing various errors and a few cheats [which I have *ahem* exploited to the fullest before I hook the bastard up to the net].

A big ol' RPG with bugs ?? Thats a firrst :nervous:
RE: topic in question, Isn't there a list on the M$ site at all ?

Well, I should say, including content+bug fixing patches. I'm just wondering if the addition of an HD in particular has led to a tendency to release-then-patch as seems to be with PC games.
I did do a cursory check myself; Oblivion reportedly has a patch, Prey will have a bug-fix patch, Saints Row is to be patched (seeing that is what sparked my curiousity, as it seems to be regularly that patch news crops up for the 360 nowadays), The Outfit had a patch, Hitman was patched, DOA4 had one, and BF2:MC was patched. I think Dead Rising might be due a patch, I don't think PGR3, Kameo or PDZ had one (AFAIK).
(NB: including minor patches like, for example, the BF2 one was to fix headset problems)

hrm, true.
most of them seem to be orientated towards multiplayer issues, and whatnot.
I'm guessing that while it's not exactly -wanted- per se, patching a console game will be a trend most of us will haveta get used to, sadly. either way, it's not -entirely- unwelcomed, however. A few console games have been released in the past with various bugs, etc.
we'll just haveta get used to it i guess..
i can guess why PDZ was never patched, it was "OOOH, look at me, i'm a Tech demo!" type of game :p

It's the proximity that worries me. Granted, the 360 probably isn't mature as a platform anyways (imagine how bad the PS3 will be, they've not even finished the libraries), but when we're seemingly seeing patches mere weeks after release, it does make me think they're rushing stuff out and letting the early adopters do the exhaustive bug testing.

that is very true.
