Title: The Journeyman Project
Post by: Sandwich on September 05, 2006, 05:07:57 pm
Does anyone have it? Is anyone old enough to remember it? Specifically, can anyone extract some WAV files from it? ;)

I have the Mac version, but it runs too slowly both on my old Mac and on the Basilisk emulator. I've never been able to play it. :(

Well, I actually managed to find what I was looking for... The Journeyman Project theme tune (can't really qualify as a song...). I got it from here (http://www.ezgoal.com/channels/multimedia/f.asp?f=194399).

I loved the first two games... the third though felt like bad fan fiction...

"Oh yeah, Sinclair is really a good guy! Ermm... go to Atlantis now!"

Plus Arthur went from a funny, but good source of historical info, to being annoying.

The Journeyman Project dates back to the same time as the original Myst, for those who were wondering. Far as I know, they were both originally for the Mac platform (that's where I played them, at least, on an LC4). We're talking 486 days here. ;)

I remember it, don't have it anymore. It was kind of crap where if you lost the manual you basically couldn't play the game (because said manual had all the codes and stuff that you needed to progress).

I remember this game.  Had it for Windows.  I don't suppose there's any place one might...ahem, acquire the first game?

In the interest of killing two birds with one stone....

From the informational text file in the torrent (http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3518707/The_Journeyman_Project_1_-_Turbo):

Quote
Just ran it, it runs fine on XP if you force 95 compatibility.

From some site:
Installs correctly in Windows XP - although the attempt to install Video for Windows will fail
this doesn't seem to matter. During installation, choose to copy the executable to disk.
To improve performance, run in compatibility mode: find the executable JMAN.EXE in the installation directory,
right click and choose "Properties". On the "Compatibility" tab, choose "Windows 95", 256 colors, and 640x480
pixels (I checked the other comptability boxes also for good luck).

Also here are the security codes you'll need from page 7:
Temporal Security Annex Entry Code: 6894895
Background, Theory, and Procedure Monitor Access Code: 0524133
Historical Reconfiguration Code: 0291384

:D

EDIT: For clarification, HLP doesn't condone pirating software or merchant galleons. :)

Wow, I haven't heard of this game for a while. I remember playing 3 a long time ago and thoroughly enjoying it. Arthur = awesome to no end.
