Yeah Saints Theft Row Andreas.....

Saw an advert on the TV tonight, even thought it was running on the GTA Engine at first, it's that similar.

Tell them to wake up from their corporate dreams and stop following public trends like flies discovering $hit! (okay, take a deep breath...it's all going to be fine....*stop hysterical shouting*)

I just want FS3...*sniff*....at least I still have FSO. :(

Does Pletcher or Daveb or Sandeep Shekar even work there anymore?

If not, I have a kidnapping assignment for you all.

Saints Row isn't a PC release. [V] have failed me.

Well FS1 and 2 weren't exactly original. They were simply the best.

The news, eh?  As in, the TV news?

Does Pletcher or Daveb or Sandeep Shekar even work there anymore?

They do, in fact.  All three of them.  Check the staff page on their website.

i checked the website,i don't know why...they made the best space sim, right? Why they are creating other types of games?

They didn't make that much money out of the best space sim.

Yes because thats what keeps a company afloat... ignoring public trends...

I always thought making good products is what keeps a company afloat. When Bioware made Baldur's Gate it certainly isn't in the public trend (same is not true for FS, but that's not my point). Following public trends only helps so much in the beginning. If the game sucks, it will fail. Unless it's in the legendary level like Big Rigs.

Not saying Saints Row or other Volition games suck BTW. In fact, from what I've read, they are pretty "descent".

Simply because no-one could buy it.Why there are only a few Italians? Why there are many fans from Poland?
The distribution s****d.I had even to buy the game from eBay from another Italian.

A financial failure...of course! If only American and English citizens could have the possibility to buy it....

Cuz Interplay ****ed up the marketing campaign.

Cuz Interplay ****ed up the marketing campaign.

And no advertising.
I would buy it when it was released as well as FS1(they're computer games and difficult to find,I prefer PlayStation ones),'cause of this stupid reasons I couldn't.

At this time,we would probably play with FS4<Is it the first time someone says FS4?>.

But I still hope there will be a FS3.Take Prince Of Persia for example...it had a sequel after how many years? When someone will make the proposal for a new game in THQ,V should choice a FS3,maybe working in tandem with the SCP(dividing money, cough cough).

Hey,wait! With all this money we could pay our host for years!

Yeah seriously, I found out about FS2 when I went into a game shop and asked if they had Freespace: The Great War, and the guy goes "Well no.. .. But this came out last week."

Except for the fact that Interplay still owns the franchise, or at least some of the rights anyway. THQ and/or Volition would have to get them before that became a possibility.

A financial failure...of course! If only American and English citizens could have the possibility to buy it....

We do. It's just that A) it's an old game and B) most of our gamers have never heard of Freespace, not even the Descent players. I've seen plenty of FS2's in used PC game retailers.

Here in Italy Descent had a great success,I remember even I was only a child when I read it....
Interplay went down,right?

First of all,FS2 took many features from Colony Wars...

Interplay isn't quite gone. They're technically still around, but they are so heavily steeped in debt that they can't really do anything.

Do they still have an office sitting somewhere? Or is it just a few people sitting on brand names at the moment?

Current state of Interplay (according to Wikipedia):

In Interplay's latest 10-Q SEC filing made on June 21, 2005, it was revealed that under "Commitments and Contingencies" that Interplay Productions has multiple legal proceedings filed against it and has nearly $11 million USD in debt. Of interest is that Interplay received a notice from the IRS stating that they owe approximately $117,000 USD in payroll tax penalties and that Interplay was fined by the California Labor Board $10,000 for failure to meet payroll obligations and that an August 2005 trial date was set, and that Interplay's "general liability, auto, fiduciary liability, workers compensation and employment practices liability, have been cancelled, however Interplay has entered into a new workers compensation insurance plan, Interplay is appealing a separate California Board of Labor fine of $79,000 for having lost their workers compensation plan for a period of time". Under "Contractual Obligations" it is revealed that Interplay does not have a headquarters at present because Interplay, in 2004, forfeited its lease and vacated its office space in Irvine, California.[4]

if I may, DH, that means Interplay is FUBAR in a SNAFU environment, but is too sore to either let go the Freespace copyright or let anyone know who they gave it to. .

volition did well on that Saint's Row game. . . I played it on a friend's 360, and it was like GTA meets True Crime.

also, who did the dead or alive games (I thought it was Volition, but I could be wrong)...

I dunno, if they use real people, I think it's gonna suck, but If they use the graphics (and physics) from DOA4. . .  ;7

physics? You mean that girl..."Armstrong"-my favourite-?

Wasn't DoA made by japanese programmers?

If Interplay goes down once and for all,a FS3 will be possible?

Depends on what happens to the distribution rights.... I'm not really knowledgeable about this. What does happen to a dissolved company's assets?

Given that just about every other beat em up features at least one bare-chested muscle man that does seem a tad unfair :p

actually, the game was really good physics- and fighting-wise. The fighting moves were believable, and actually kicked @$$ (no pun intended). The physics were beautiful, and the arenas provided great beating objects. . .

overall, a good game, but I still prefer Tekken over DoA

But who'll be interested on this?I mean, only the FreeSpace community wants a FS3.Anyone else will waste his money.

I played a DoA but I prefer Tekken....
The beast beat em up for me is Soul Calibur III.
Raphael Sorel,Lizardman,I love playing controlling them!
