Anybody have the older version of this? I've got 1.3 but the interface of 1.2 was much better for me. And in 1.3 I can figure out how to hide individual faces of a mesh. Was an easy thing to do in 1.2 with a right click but seems to have been taken out of this version.

Do a google search for it, it should come up.
-
All links goto 1.3.

Hiding faces is still there in the right click menu - just make sure you're in face select mode rather than vert select mode.
That said, I've never used it since I've never needed it. I sort a model out by seperating segments, and assigning each one to a separate material. Kinda works like a multi-layered hide function.
Once it's all separated, I go through each material and unwrap it's contents as you would anything else, and then recombine it back into one material and arrange it like a puzzle.

I still don't see anything being in face mode. I don't want to hide a whole group at once, just certain faces of that group. I model the stuff into little pieces that fit together. A wing would be an object or like the whole cockpit. When I'm mapping sometimes faces are in the way and I need to get rid of them. With 1.2 it was great just select what faces I want gone and right click them. Unless I'm doing something wrong I see the same menu on right click no matter what mode I'm in.

Well that's just weird then. My right click menu looks like this:

Are you getting a different menu, or the same menu without the hide options?

This is what I get in all modes.

Ah, I think I see the problem. Whatever version that is there, it's not the same 1.3 as I have. In fact it seems to be missing a lot of features. Not just in the menu either - the visible toolbar is missing 3 selection related buttons that mine has, and mine doesn't report the number of materials on the model in the bottom right corner either (which looks like it might have been removed from there because it's visible just above the heirarchy pane anyway).
Take another look via this version: http://underworld.fortunecity.com/pacman/106/fs2mods/shipcreationguide/lithunwrap1-3.zip

Thank you very much! I must have had this version before but I thought it was 1.2. This is what I was using before.
-
There is a dodgy version of 1.3 around. I've run into it myself. You can tell by exporting a cob using it. It will separate each face into a seperate object giving you a model you just can't convert.

OMG bulk freighter!
I found lithunwrap confusing. Well, i'm a noob to this kind of stuff, but I mean I can usually figure out a program's interface in at least a few days once i get comfortable with it.
-
Did you try IPAndrews tutorial (http://underworld.fortunecity.com/pacman/106/fs2mods/shipcreationguide/uvmappingyourmodelusinglu.html)?
-
:) Lithunwrap.... this is quite nice for a freeware  am using 1.3 and I've converted a lot of stuff using
this though it takes some time to figure it out. Am using the some what early version of 1.3 that allows you to save your work and it's a nice tool for converting stuff to COB or Milkshape if you wana add more stuff to ur work. me only problem here is how to assign hierarchy hmmmm...... :(
-
Just checked, and it doesn't look like you can do that in lith. It can store and save hierarchy, but not edit it.
If instead you're referring to hierarchy setup in Truespace, there are a couple of tutorials floating around: :)

LOL I like Andrew's LOD polycount recommendations. Geez I'm off by only a ten :p
Oh how things have changed.
