Hello Hello folks.

Its been a good 2 years since the last time I tried to launch an EOTP (Echoes of the Past) mod for FS2, and had it fail due to lack of intrest/support. Seeing as how the community has changed, aged, and grown, I feel the desire to try again.

I already have a great many low poly models of EOTP ships; all I need to do is get them added into FS2.

I also am quite good at FRED and have roughed out many of the missions in the mod already using the stock ships as place holders.

So, I need some good voice actors (both male and female, and folks who can do accents; German, British, and Hebrew are required to start), some modelers and a weapons effect specialist.

To spur the mod on and encourage intrest, I make the following offer -

For every EOTP low poly model polished up and dropped in working condition into FS2, I will make a donation to HLP to help them through the current crisis.

Depending on how that works, I will extend that program to other things done for the mod. (Weapons/effects, voice acting etc).

PS. Note: The max donation per month will be 40-50 dollars, and I'm thinking 10 dollars model.
If business conditions improve for me (I own a small business IRL), I would be willing to kick in more.

I am sure you could get piece work done by indivuduals in between other projects. No doubt you noticed how difficult it is in this mod hungry period of time to find available talent (as there are tons of mods still in development since you last checked here and this ties people up).

I'd be very willing to try a few test ships for you. (if you simply want to get them INTO FS2. Now for more elaborate work like .POF editing (final data, paths, ect...) you wiil either need to get that done yourself or secure a individual to go over freshly converted .POFs...

Granted, when it comes to Multi-part turrets, as long as the modeler set them up axis-wise correctly conversion should be no problem, if the geometry is stable and the poly load spread out... Plus I don't know how to do lods. I've done hundreds of conversions and all of them are LOD 0.  I only offer my assistance to get you better placeholders (ie the actual ship instead of a visual alternate). Properly LODed ones could be switched in later.

Getter, I'd love to see at least one ship IN FS2. It would provide a nice morale boost, if you know what I mean.

As for .POF editting, I've never done it, but as long as it doesn't involve a 3D art program, I'll take a stab at it if we could get a ship in and working.

As for the cleanness of the model - that may be an issue, but why not try it and find out? I dropped you a line on Yahoo. Gemmie a yell back and I'll get a ship transfered to you.

That's a brilliant idea dude! Shame i didn't thought about it before. :p Unfortunelly i'm not a modeller so i can't help you. :doubt:

You don't have to be a "Modeler". There are many different ways FS2 can be modified. Especially if Modelers/texturers set ships up right with stable geometry, proper number (or less) of textures, ect...

We had a few trial runs last night and though I won't post any pics, we found out some things.

Ships will most likely need to be OPTIMIZED, probably losing half as much as the poly counts on cap ships. Much detail can be made up by textures.

Fighters are WAY simple and faster to convert than Capitol ships. Much info can simply be impored and then re-edited than placing and making from scratch like: gun/missile points, shields, dock paths, thrusters ect...

I successfully completed their first fighter and about to touch the second capship.  :nervous:

2nd fighter DONE!

capship just took a digger.... Gonna have to get some expert help on these...
these were made by a modler not familiar with game requirements so there are some issues not apparent till you try to convert, but at least I proved the hulls CAN get in game.

mainly it's a lot of wasted poly type things and of course TURRETS!!! (my bane)...

Whispers (just keep sending those small craft my way...)  :nervous:

Ka-ching! $20.00 for HLP methinks... (that's more than the spelling Nazi here... Just Kidding)   ;)

Well, I'm still trying to single-handidly get a TOS BSG TC going, but I'm willing to help out here.

Weapon effects and old school tables, plus turreting are my strengths (though I sometimes go ott on the last... my flagship vessel for my own FS based mod now has so many turrets PCS dies of shock!)

Final pof editing I'm not up to speed on, nor texturing.  I can do little bits, but whole ships yet... :(

I thought IPAndrews and possibly Killfrenzy had been working on a BSG TC for a while now ?
