Title: map files
Post by: dogeddie on September 09, 2006, 01:58:24 pm
I just went from 3.6.7 to 3.6.8. Two files say 3.6.7map. Do I leave them alone? What are they? Or are there 3.6.8 map files I need? Thanks again.

The maps are contained in their respective VPs.Just be sure if you have all the VPs you need and the 3.6.9 build....

I meant 3.6.9 - oops. Anyway, I got all the downloads(except mutiplayer) from martellato's "status check" page (very handy). The game seems to work whether they are left in or taken out. I'm just wondering why they are there  in 3.6.7 and not in 3.6.9? (trying to learn also)

You mean the maps?Someone was replaced with animation glowmpas for modified shipmodels, like the new Moloch.
If the games work without crashing and playing is a pleasure for your eyes, then there's nothing wrong.

He's probably on about .map file not the texture maps which are in the VPs.

The map files were distributed with builds by Phreak for a while. From what I understand they are useful for tracking down null and wild pointers when you have a crash. They aren't necessary to run FS2_Open so it doesn't matter whether you have them or not at the moment.

They generate themselves while running a debug build of fs_open?

Hey Kara, why do some of your posts have an Avatar under the name, but others don't?

It's because it only shows up in the forums you moderate, so I will have one on this post, but not one in, say, the SCP Forum :)

Lots of people (well, a bunch, but not as many as I'd like) create missions.  You'd have to do something really notable.

Generally, doing something really stupid is easier than doing something really impressive, but you may not like the title you get. :p

Basically, titles are given at the whim of the admins.  Sometimes we don't even give titles.  Look at Unknown Target: he's been clamoring for a title for ages and still doesn't have one. :D

But my mission,as you said, was very well scripted and even the language was "*good*".
You'll decide the title?I thought the user would select it.
I don't know why thesizzler is Mr Think then post....
