On the flipside of the "Your faveourite games thread," I'd like to hear your lchoices for the worst games ever made. Be it for moral reasons, Graphics or sheer awful gameplay..........
PS2-
Robot warlords, What can i say The gameplay is awkward, The damage model is poor, The graphics are plain. For one of the first games to come out for a "fun" console the learning curve was atrocious.........
X-Box-
Fight club, Fight Club Fight Club !!
Poor combat dynamic, Awful music and Ai that a spoon could beat.......
PC- Hard hard choice............ I'm no fan of things like Baldurs gate but thats no reason to slate it.
So i'm going for Re-loaded, It was technically good for its time in that it used 3D but it was just smash TV in essence.....

any and all matrix games
WoW just cuz i like EVE :)
-
Isn't Quest64 usually cited as the worst game ever?
Either way I would nominate Evolva on the PC for the worst game ever created. It's beyond terrible, it's downright painful.

Evolva = poor !
Consoles too peeps :D

any and all matrix games
Agreed
WoW just cuz i like EVE :)
inversely i could say EVE is the worst ever because timecards are well nigh impossible to get 'round here :p
Deus Ex: Invisible war gets my vote for worst ever.

I actually liked Quest64...damaged my N64 playing it because I didn't have a memory card, so I left the 64 running for a few days at one time. It rebelled, overheated, and it's never quite worked right since. Never did finish the game either.
As for the worst game ever, you know, down in your soul, that there can be only one worthy of the title.
Battlecruiser Millenium

Just an incoherent blob of 1's and 0's.

Deus Ex: Invisible war gets my vote for worst ever.
Really? Most of the time I've heard people talk about it it's usually "Yeah it's really watered down for console gamers, and not a patch on Deus Ex but it's a fun little game."
Although admittedly my love for Deus Ex has led me not to try Invisible War because I would rather not be reallyyy disapporinted.
-
Postal 2

Deus Ex: Invisible war gets my vote for worst ever.
:wtf: You must not have played many games then? DX:IW was a decent game, hampered by its console roots. Still, the original DX beats it all the way, but sometimes IW's simplicity over the original is welcome change of pace.
-
There are far worse games out there dan DX IW, Extreme paintball for one
-

I'll fix it after lunch. People should check Yolanda out. It's a piece of work. Trust me.

Not sure about worst but Carmageddon 3 gets my vote for most disappointing.

i was talking from a performance perspective, it was also shallow, and all Four (?) of the endings left a fair amount to be desired.
the RPG system used from the last DX was gutted, to be honest, IW was a dissappointment
Worst Console game i've played is Bruce Lee: quest of the Dragon, (not nearly as cool as it sounds)
Perfect Dark zero, as pretty as it looks, amounts to pretty much a glorified tech demo, nothing like its N64 predacessor.
as for not playing many games, well.. whaddya want to hear?.. that the last game i've played was "ken's labyrinth" or something? or that i've just finished Dark Star One, and that it's story is rather nice, it doesn't compared to the thumpin' action found in Freespace.
Or that i'm contemplating playing the Entire KOTOR series again, with a bit of Far Cry, or perhaps a spot of Chris Sawyer's locomotion, that is if i can FIND it under the piles of games i've got lurking around here, full towers, and ****e like that. :p ;)

Battlecruiser Millenium
I liked it. If the FPS part of the game didn't have such unorthodox controls it would have been much better.
What?
-
I can't believe no one's said it...
No one will?
*looks around*
Fine, I'll have to...
Daikatana!
Another would have to be Delta Force 2.
-
AGGG, Daikatana !
It besmirched my good N64 as well............PC crap overflow is the right term i believe.
-
I haven't played many games that I would truly call bad. Half Life 2 is the only candidate in recent memory, although even that had a few redeeming points. I usually get a demo and if I don't like it, I stop playing in a few minutes and forget about the game. Maybe Mac vs IBM, a Mac "game" from 1990 or something that was on a shareware games CD I had (no sound, B&W graphics, and the game lasted about three seconds).
DX Invisible War was actually pretty good compared to many other games. It's only in comparison to the first one that it looks really bad (would easily get my vote for the most disappointing game ever).
-
The Ninja turtles game (spartan runs throught his copies of PCGamer, finds the one he really wants). Anyway, I didn't like the show, I don't like the video game. . . something like a 6% on PCGamer.
-
'E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial' - Least said the better, let's just say they ended up destroying nearly 1 million unsold cartridges.
'Pirates of the Caribbean' - Originally named somethng else and then renamed and re-released after the movie for more craptacular cash. Odd really since it was by Bethseda.
'Unreal 2' - WTF Inc.
-
'Unreal 2' - WTF Inc.
I always thought that game was underrated. The story sucked, but the map design was generally top notch and the weapons had a lot of variety to them. I found it quite satisfying to just play through the levels and ignore the story. I guess it had almost nothing to do with the first game though.

buy timecards for ingame money :)
-
M.A.X. 2. Mainly because it was so buggy it couldn't run for more than 10 minutes at a time without freezing the system.
-
I don't understand how people look at a game that by itself is an excellent game, but because it isn't exactly like its predecessor it's automatically the "worst game ever."
People did that with Halo 2 and now The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and whatever else.
Personally, Battlecruiser Millenium, ANY Battlecruiser game or whatever that dude, Derek or something, calls his game series can qualify as the worst ever. I bought it and couldn't play it for more than five minutes.
Hey, did you guys hear about that guy trying to buy the rights to Freespace and making FS3? What did you think of that? I heard there was a giant backlash against him from the FS community when he announced his "interest" in acquiring the Freespace franchise. Was that community mentioned this one?
-

Ye shall not speak the heathen words. Tis not allowed here (not really, but usually a big flamewar follows).
My worst game ever (that I did not play): Big Rigs. This game is so bad people bought it just to check out how atrocious it is. In the end it actually sold more than Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. Sad.
-
Why? If this is the community that backlashed against him, I have no fear of retaliation against me. After all, I just mentioned my disgust at his games, so...
-
My worst game was MOO3 When I heard a new MOO came out, I was full of happiness, until I installed and played it. This was just an incredible evil trick on players. I have to admit that I haven't get to much into the detail of this game, because as soon as I had the first battle and saw graphics that was even worse than on an old C64 (anybody still know this ? :) ) I thought that does it :( The CD-Rom is currently scaring away birds in my parent vegetable garden.

Hey! That's the snippet I saw on Gamespot! Eh, he hasn't been around since '04, so I doubt he's planning on doing it. If he did buy the franchise and make FS3 I think I'd :(

Worst game ever? Such a wide variety to choose from!
Ummmm..... I think it'd have to be Bomberman Hero, N64. Ugh, that game was a horrifying disappointment. :ick:

Battlecruiser Millenium
You mean that one game made by DEREK SMART DEREK SMART DEREK SMART DEREK SMART? (Just to help Dr. Smart when he Googles his name :p )
In terms of worst game ever, the worst I've ever played would be either Iron Fist (the alternate history WWI game, interesting premise and fascinating background, but absolutely sucky in terms of balance and design) or Fallen Haven. It had a terrific background and I absolutely loved basically playing a Risk-inspired game that actually let me control the action in the battle, but the gameplay wasn't terrific.

:eek2:
I watched the video (via YouTube...). Less said the better about the game, obviously. I was almost hyperventilating at the part where the guy just left his Big Rig bouncing happily in the vacuum.
By the way, the publisher behind that atrocity also seems to qualify quite well in the contest of worst web sites ever:
http://www.stellarstone.com/ (http://www.stellarstone.com/)
Nothing working there either. Except lo behold; on Internet Exploder the pages magically work "normally"... On other browsers that actually know what to do with malformed web code, no luck. You have to guess the address; the navigation bar just sits there in both Opera 9 and FF1.502. Even I could do more functional web page, and I could easily make it better in appearance also.
Real Russki Kvalitet there...

I fixed the Yolanda review link in my earlier post. You guys should read it. Funny stuff.

Oh, My, Gosh.....................That game sounds like a huge pile of badger muck. The reviewer said "the best part of the game is the bird on the title screen... and thats not saying much"
-
I had to go into rehab after trying to play Yolanda.
-
I've never been unlucky enough.......
Scrabble on the old Commodore (tape drive i forget wich) was thick as sh1t, it would ask " ARE YOUSURE ZXDTFFGHGFY IS A WORD?" press Y, "CONGRATULATIONS, 679 OINTS"

'E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial' - Least said the better, let's just say they ended up destroying nearly 1 million unsold cartridges.
buried in the desert ? ;)
oh, and Doom3.
-
Big Rigs, or some talking program I made. Not verbal of course.
Pick an option:
A: Irradiate your brain.
B: Give terrorists information about government secrets (or U.N secrets, or secretary generals, or something!)
Etc. It was kinda fun for about 5 mins. But it only had about 12 different paths :(
Oh yeah, an interesting site www.dugg.ca
Nooo! the site went down! Stupid advertisers!
Ok, try www.cexx.org
Really, no joke! Try it!

Corridor 7 was pretty bad.... Started off ok, but just got boring and even more boring and even more more boring...... Music was pretty cool though.
-
I know this has already been covered, but this is a quote from the Stellar Stone site:
ADVANTAGE
The highest technical caliber of Stellar Stone developers coupled with low offshore Russia-based engineering costs gives us sustainable competitive edge to employ more and higher quality engineers than a typical US company can afford, staff up projects faster, put more developers on a project for a better gameplay value and graphics visuals. For our customers that transfers into richier product feature set at the same price point.
If "high quality" means the game doesn't work, then what's their idea of low quality?
-
anyone ever play corridor 7?
-
anyone ever play corridor 7?
Look a couple posts back :D
-
oh, missed the second page.
well I guess that just goes to show how bad that game was.
-
I would have to say ether Delta force 2 or LW.
Me and my brother would sit there laughing like sisies, while having to hunt down this one dude who was sitting near a house, saying the same thing over, and over, and over again. Only to find him half stuck thru a building and kill us with one shot time we rounded the corner.
-
I heard there were some Live-action Zelda games or something that really sucked as well on CD-i?
-
If "high quality" means the game doesn't work, then what's their idea of low quality?
Sets fire to your PC and burns your house down?

Star Control 3 and DX: IW for the most disappointing games ever......
-
Star Control 3
There was a third? Wow, they must have really boned it up to tarnish SC2's reputation.
-
Oh, they did. Or rather, someone else did, which was the real cause of the suckage of that game - The people behind SC1&2 didn't make SC3. Same thing that happened to the EoB series... it's a sad way to end it.
[Edit] On the topic of Star Control, anyone who loved SC2 as much as I did should check out The Ur-Quan Masters (http://sc2.sourceforge.net/). It's an open-source, cross-platform, and in my experience very stable version of SC2, identical in every way to the original except it runs on modern operating systems. In short, it rocks. Hasn't left my hard drive since I found out about it :)

Star Control 3

You'd better believe that they did (they meaning the people who made this one, as they are different from the ones who made the first and second). Here is the best review I've found for it.
http://www.abandonia.com/games/822/download/StarControl3.htm
Overall, it was a terrible game, even when it is standing alone. Compared to its predecessor, it looks even worse.
-
What space sim was it where you could fly the Dralthi look-a-like ship and have the option to switch sides?
-
Hmm. Might be WC4, you definitely switch sides at one point and I guess the wings on the dragon could look vaguely dralthi-ish if you lost your glasses or were drunk enough.
-
Nope, way way way back in WC1 era. Star somthing....
Star Crusader!
http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=1042 (http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=1042)
Wasn't a bad game, too bad i never finished it.
-
I should really play Star Control. I've been hearing nothing but good reports about it for at least the last million years.
-
Worst games ever???!!!
Every single game that my wife has bought me!!!
Seriously, she doesn't have a clue! Fists of Rage, a terrible budget 2d beat-em-up is an example. Then she went and bought me a WWI era flight sim which sucked big time. I know I should be grateful as these were gifts, but honestly! I just smiled sweetly, played them a little once and then put them at the bottom on my pile! ::)
-
[Harry Enfield voice] Women! Know your limits! [/Harry Enfield voice]
-
Then she went and bought me a WWI era flight sim which sucked big time.
You better not be referring to Red Baron...
-
Crusaders of Might and Magic - Mostly running around, bland environments, texture errors (i.e. getting one of those textures that kind of "record" where you look. i can't explain it), always choppy gameplay even on a Pentium 4.
Fighter Squadron (WW2 era sim) - No tutorials, extremely long missions, I had to go ONLINE to find out how to use my bombs... basically all it was good for was flying around aimlessly. Although for some reasons the wings kept flying off of one of the bombers for no apparent reason. =/
Bang! Gunship Elite - Bad controls, some of the enemy capital ships looked like SD Demon ripoffs, extremely hard missions even on Easy... etc.
The Harry Potter games - Don't get me started. (plus i was like 10 when i bought the first one. :nervous: )
-
Extreme Paintbrawl >.< http://pc.ign.com/articles/160/160455p1.html
Damn and i was gonna post it

Actually it was Star Crusader (a few messages up). The one fighter (if you google the picture) looks a bit like a wc1 dralthi.
-
Then she went an' bought me a WWI era flight sim which sucked big time... and really bad eggs.
Ye better not be referrin' t' Red Baron...
No! Some Microsoft crap, can't be bothered to dig it out and find out what is was called, like I said, it is now at the bottom of a very large pile of games! ;)
-
Arrgh, I have star srusader, It came in a triple pack with Beuraux 13 and Nomad.
Star Crusader was not a bad game at all...........Buraux 13 was though :nervous:
-
Ya, to bad I never finished it, i think i got about as far as when you can switch sides. I'm sure its next to impossible to run now-a-days.

What a relief. Red Baron is really a spectacularly good game.
You know, I still sometimes play Red Baron. I've got it working perfectly on Win XP, including use of USB joystick, Sound BLaster sound and VGA Graphics. VDMSound rocks.
Another oldie I sometimes play is obviously GP2. Fine game even compared to newer formula 1 games IMO. 8)

Anyone remember Jail Break? The game where you played a cop walking down the street shooting convicts. Featuring bullets that moved so quickly you didn't have a chance in hell of dodging any of them. Or how about Pit Fighter? The terrible but extremely funny Fight Club style fighting game with difitised graphics?
-
Alien Triology on PS. Where the bullets travelled so slowly you could fire a few off, run down the corridor, turn round and be hit by said shots. It was more fun killing yourself, allbeit for a few minutes, than playing through the game.
-
Anyone remember the game that was based on TekWar? lol

That game was so... so... so dull.

bloody hell, i repressed that memory
i think it was the only PC game that i had that literally gave me a headache.. doom64 was another one.
-
Doom was a pretty bad game. Boring as hell.
-
ExtremeG on N64 gave me headaches for weeks......
-
Doom was a pretty bad game. Boring as hell.
Actually a lot of people (including me) loved it.
-
I loved modding doom... it was soo easy making maps for it. I had converted wolf3d to it, then converted heretic to hexen.
-
I remember playing it as a kid and getting mods that would make all backgrounds David Letterman, shotgunners into the Energizer Bunny, demons into Barney the dinosaur, etc... lol, I was only a lil messed up.
-
Superman 64 = Really Really Really bad........... :ick:
-
I remember playing it as a kid and getting mods that would make all backgrounds David Letterman, shotgunners into the Energizer Bunny, demons into Barney the dinosaur, etc... lol, I was only a lil messed up.
I had an old Red Dwarf sound mod that replaced the sounds of the game with sounds from the series. Incredibly funny. I tried hacking together an Adam Sandler sound mod in the same manner. I think it was the second album, the one with the goat. God that was too long ago.
Anyways, I never really liked any lithtech game until NOLF1. Even Shogo, it just felt really wierd, and out of place. That, and Shogo still pisses me off to this day with it's god-awful audio system.
I am not a fan of the Warcraft series either. *booo! hiss!*
-
I don't have many bad games, but the 2 worst are probably Halo (morso by being cursed by its own reputation and a really ****ty conversion) and Red Faction.
-
Red Faction is really that bad?
-

Speaking of Doom mods, has anyone played Chex Quest? To this day, I think that TC has the most original premise I've ever seen in a computer game. :D
-
I used to own it back in the day. That game has been the only reason for me to buy that brand of cereal. Now Chex Mix, on the other hand, is a different story. I can't get enough of that stuff.
-
Red Faction is really that bad?
If it was a teddy bear, it'd be one which exploded into a cloud of baby-seeking shrapnel as soon as it was taken out the box
If it was a plane, it'd be made of tinfoil and have 'infidel airlines' painted on the side, 'death to Allah' on the base, and only fly over the Middle East
If it was a car, it'd have square wheels, barbed wire seatbelts, a shotgun instead of an airbag and an engine fuelled by the eternal screans of the souls of the damned.
If it was a comedian, it'd be Jimmy Carr.
-

You must be assimilated into the Halo community.

Oh, come on. I think you're being rather harsh. It isn't that bad. It's just an average shooter with a gimmick.
