Title: Need Help TBP is not starting
Post by: BarFly on September 13, 2006, 02:28:21 pm
Hello,

I'm totally new with this projekt.
As an old Freespace Fan, I discovered it a couple of days ago, downloaded the files TBP-Base 3.2 /3.3 The PatchB5-3.3-Patch.rar and 5 Mission files RW01; rw22; EMW-2.0; MP01-1.0 and RW-2.0. All of them are EXE files.
My System: Celeron 500 Mendocino with Slot Adapter on a Soyo SY-6BE+ Board with Intel BX440 Chipset
192 MB SDram
NVidia Ti4200 64MB AGPCard
SB Live!
RT 8139 PCI NIC
2 HDD with 8.4 GB each
24x CD-Rom
300W
Win98SE
DirectX 8.1
My Problems:
1. Where do I have to install the Missions and how. Just starting the exe files? Is there an installer?
I can imagine that some of the following errors are connected with this problem.

2. When I start the Launcher I get the following Messages using the File mentioned in the 'Proper Installation prodeedures' here in the Forum
- FailedtoreadFlagFile
- FailedEnumAdapterModesInAntialiasList

3. In the launcher itself I don't have the choice to choose a resolution in D3D
in OpenGL I can choose the usual resolutions.

4. When I try to start up TBP I get the following Error- Message:

Error: Error parsing 'ships.tbl'
Error code = 1.

File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Ship\Ship.cpp
Line: 3033

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    ê4ô÷¿ 1475ff00()
------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok thats it I think
Thanks in Advance for any help

Ciao Hans

2. i just had to execute the Missionfiles

3. I have been some kind of stupid

4. it seems to be working

Sorry!!

Ciao Hans

Well, you seem to have sorted it all out for yourself.

Have fun playing :)

...and be sure to at least try OpenGL instead of D3D rendering. It generally should give better performance/quality these days in most cases.

Good thing it works, anyway. :)

well, while writing down the error messages to post here it came slowly up to mind what was wrong. You see, the posting helped  :) anyway. Remember schooltime, writing cheat sheets?

I'll tried this now and You're right, the quality is much better. The briefings and the reports become readable now. I can't say anything about the performance, because it was late in germany and I gotta work today.

Ciao Hans

Welcome to the HLP Station, All references to FS and the number 3 must be removed from  your person to prevent accidental :snipe:. Do not feed the redident Shivan Carl as he will become voracious and chew your leg off. Flamethrowers can be found under your seat but due to financial constraints have been re-filled with holy water, Phased Plasma rifles (40 watt range of course) can be found in storage lockers. To prevent act of n00b however, These can only be opened by Moderators, :v: or a hyperintelligent shade of BluE. In the event of catastrophioc hull failure please board the nearest lifeboat which is pre-programmed for autonymous flight to our sister station the Game-Warden outpost.
