You should already have it, are you sure it isn't named incorrectly?  It should be "tango2_fs2.vp".  Look in you FreeSpace2 folder to see if it's inside.


If you don't have the file at all I can get it to you.

I'm trying to install FS2 from the CD but it keeps stopping at Tango2_fs2.vp and giving me some some of "cyclic redunancy error". Yes, I need the file and I would appreciate if you could somehow get it to me.

It sounds like you're going to have to burn the CD again if you got it from an ISO.  If you don't have the ISOs I can get those to you as well.

Just giving you the .vp file wouldn't fix the problem as a Cyclic Redundancy Error usually means the disc is unreadable.

PM me if you want to get the cd.  Be sure to tell me which disc you need.

Your CD is basically buggered.

You are right that you can get away without a new one though. Simply chose not to install the Act II command briefing animations and it will skip Tango2_fs2.vp. You can then get Tango2_fs2.vp from some other source or simply live without those animations. 

However you will have problems whenever you try to install the game so getting the missing CD is probably the most sensible thing you can do. Especially as I doubt anyone has the time or server space to upload a several hundred meg file when the ISOs already have the missing file.

CRC means Cyclic Redundancy Check (or something like that), and it is an error checking routine. When FS or the Installers puts that up, it means that your file is damaged, and as you're installing it from a CD, the CD's buggered. Thus you should burn it again, to save you the trouble next time even if the installer installs the whole game. Anyway, I can't upload 70 megs at a normalish time, so sorry
